Dream Theater Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory
Voto:
Wow, this review continues to be the mother of all others! XD
I’m leaving a comment a bit different from the old ones, since over the past few months I’ve ventured into many different genres (from new wave to brutal death). I’m increasingly convinced that Dream Theater didn’t invent anything and that we could sum them up as Rush (70s) + Metallica (80s), but despite that, I still like them, and live they are an immense spectacle. They weren’t the first to blend progressive with metal, but they are certainly the best at managing to maintain all the elements of both. The DT have never been original; I agree on that, but they are creative. As for their ā€œshow-offā€ nature, it’s worth mentioning that virtuosity has always been present in progressive, and the DT were the natural consequence of the fusion with hard rock/metal. For everything else, De Gustibus. Oh yeah!

I’ve been singing and playing for years. The idiot is you, since you can’t respond appropriately, but only insult. The fact remains that the bands I mentioned are better than Slipknot.

Staminkia, your name is spot-on; I can tell you must know little about music if you consider everyone I mentioned to be trash. Listen to me carefully, I don't want to start an unnecessary debate, especially with someone who can only insult but not speak. The ability to play is not a subjective matter, quite the opposite. Have you ever seen the bands I mentioned perform? Have you ever seen their compositions? I doubt it. Your lack of knowledge is evident even in your limited understanding of genres. You've got a lot to learn, kid; there are many things you need to understand... ;)

Alright then, let's do it this way: I’ll name 10 randomly chosen bands that are infinitely better than Slipknot (for creativity, attitude, or technique), from different genres: Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Metallica, Death, Pantera, The Darkness, Dimmu Borgir, Katatonia, Elio e le Storie Tese, PFM. But there are many others, you know! I’d also include The Cure, Joy Division, Queensryche, Pain of Salvation, Fates Warning, Impaled Nazarene, Darkthrone, Ulve... AAAAAH, ENOUGH!!!! Too many come to mind!!! XD

...I just got back from Imola, and I have to say they were absolutely amazing! They changed a few things, improving the setlist for Rock am Ring. They even played a new song... which was a bit of a letdown XD! For me, what Metallica has done is enough; since I don't really believe in a "comeback," they still perform excellently live!
