Poltergeist, I’ll tell you, I’ve been active on this site for quite a while, and every day hundreds of people come here to shoot their mouths off like this. It seems they don’t understand that this site is meant to share reviews and not to serve as a forum, where one should comment on a review and an album/concert/DVD, rather than coming here to wage a crusade against the band. In fact, they should prevent these (de)mented anonymous users from giving meaningless 1-1 ratings without any motivation. Unfortunately, democracy also means this... bah.

No, not at all. I don't understand why you keep fixating on the fact that criticism isn't accepted here. I know all the groups you mentioned, and I consider them to be comfortably superior to Dream Theater: Zappa (What do they have to do with them?), Area (One of the best bands ever, the best Italian in my opinion), PFM, Rush, BMS, KC, Genesis, and the like are certainly history, but you always name the usual suspects! I asked for current bands, and you throw in ED. But Dream Theater promotes an aspect of prog in quite an important way. Really, your ostentation of this hyper-technicality that exists, but not as you say it does (64ths? Come on...) is irritating! The hyper-technical ones were Atheist at this point, just like Symphony X are now... I saw Ephel Duath live, and it was zero emotions, just technique for technique's sake in my opinion, from these three guys in suits and ties playing for their own sake and a ridiculous guy wanting to get the audience to mosh (He'll remember me for the flight I made him take XD)! Taste is subjective! The DT draw from the 70s prog and Neoprog just like Spock's Beard, Transatlantic, and Flower Kings do! This doesn't mean that today's music can't be of quality just because it's inspired by that of the past. Innovation stopped over 20 years ago, and what do we do, throw everything away? I don't only listen to metal, far from it, I have a pretty broad view of music, and I'm certainly not the only one who sees it this way about Dream Theater and the future of progressive music. Then you define Dream Theater as commercial, as if their advertisements were visible somewhere. If they don't need it, there must be a reason... Since it seems you really appreciate metal, I would suggest you open your eyes to how many current bands take heavily from Dream Theater, and then, feel free not to like them. I would discourage you from acting like the cultured one of the century, since, as I already wrote previously (What did you read if you say the same things as No Quarter, aka AntiDT?!), you can't know who's on the other side, what musical culture they have, how old they are, or what social background they come from. Behave like a civilized person, and maybe we can have a correct and pleasant dialogue, since I'm getting tired of constantly responding to the same criticisms. PS: You entered here with your preachings; if you had left a simple comment as a humble person, which I assume you are not, no one would have come to respond to you, while you came in to complain and "clear the way for us," and this is a childish attitude; we've all been through that. PS2: "At Capocchiam" is not Latin; it’s used in my area, and translated it sounds like: "At head of dick," or, if you prefer, "in a dog's fucking way." You are really boring... I hope to have enlightened you. Bye.

Notice of demerit, it seems to me that you have started a battle against windmills. You came here to tell us that our tastes are wrong? Are you convinced that you are yet another superior being? I reiterate the concept that you HAVE NOT read, or at least you have not tried to understand the conclusion reached in the discussion with No Quarter. I have already written that the Dream Theater have invented nothing, so you are superfluous. The primary inspiration group for the Dreams is Rush, which you clearly do not know, since it is really obvious... You shoot off statements “At capocchiam,” since the Dream ONLY ONCE played, in fact, Jordan Rudess alone played Impressioni di Settembre at a concert on 07/02/04. Are you having fun? Tell me an IMPORTANT band of our times that has made a shift like those of the 70s. Just one! It was said that we like Dream Theater for the emotions, and that art in itself is "feeling," "emotion": BEH? Where is music evaluated? Where is the quality of art evaluated? You didn’t understand a damn thing from the previous discussion (But it was already clear from where you insinuated that we compared DT to Picasso... something that would be entirely possible, given that I prefer listening to the Dream over looking at a painting by the charming cubist...) Did the Beatles evoke emotions? Of course, they still do when I listen to them, in addition to feeling the anticipation of prog and today’s music. And, please, clean your mouth well before mentioning this group as a negative point of comparison... LaBrie can’t sing? Well, since that’s my area, I’ll tell you: He can sing (listen to the latest live, the one from this review, which I assume you haven’t seen or heard), but there are certainly better ones (Mr. Gildenlow above all). Of course, you then compare LaBrie and Schuldiner, saying that we only like melodic voices (...what do you know? Have we ever said that LaBrie is better than these?)... have you read where I wrote about listening to Black and Death? Then, you dare to insinuate that here we only listen to 4 little groups, without you risking anything: You complain but don’t tell us what would be better, you don’t tell us how to play "real music," you cite the "classics," knowing you can’t go wrong... Afraid of coming off as ignorant? But come on, we don't care, since the 16 years old, at least as far as I’m concerned, have passed quite a while ago... ah, youth...

Well, I hope it's someone else... because if it's him, I think he didn't understand a damn thing about the conversation we had... =____=

Mmm...Honestly, Mr. Nota Di Demerito, many people go on with their prejudices...this is evident from certain statements ("Prog metal is made up of all hyper-technical show-offs," for example). With this, we've already discussed that Dream Theater are not the quintuple embodiment of divinity descended to earth, but a band that creates art in its own way, and might appeal to some while others may not. For instance, if you had read the discussion carefully, you would have noticed that criticisms are perfectly accepted here, as long as they are made coherently (justifying them, of course) and recognizing that they are personal opinions. If I were to give a 1 - 1 rating to a review of one of your favorite CDs, stating that it’s rubbish, how would you take it? All the detractors here have not seen the live performance and are voting...that really gets on my nerves...and there was no comparison drawn between Dream Theater and Picasso. The REALLY irritating thing is someone who reads 2 comments and thinks they've grasped the whole argument. Maybe reread EVERYTHING, and then we can talk about it again. The discussion is pretty much concluded.

The poet arrived to show us the way / convinced he had the gift of innate truth / but he spoke the same tired phrases: / Why don’t we go for a walk?! / He added nothing to the conversation / no phrase motivated! / Oh my god! Do you want to see... / That he talked with the poop?!?!

Well, No Quarter (Now you're much nicer ;D), I think anyone who appreciates DT would react the same way! Anyway, we definitely weren't idolizing them here, nor do I believe anyone would ever call them "Original" or "Important." What really annoys me is that people often want to shoot them down (and prog metal in general...) while knowing little to nothing, when the guys in question are appreciated by many "High-caliber" artists and are a source of inspiration for a myriad of bands. Then, leaving aside the fact that they invented nothing in the musical realm, by blending Rush's progressive sound with metal, they have their own way of playing that makes them recognizable at first listen (for better or worse, of course) and a certain ability in composing that generates a lot of envy... There's much worse out there, and we know it. To reach second place on the Italian charts with Octavarium, they didn't need intrusive advertising or radio airplay. That speaks volumes... Anyway, it's all a matter of taste. Trust me, they’re not ice-cold; I've seen them live many times ;). However, if you don't already have an account on DeBaser, why not register? Being authenticated is more fun, with that hot blue writing XD.

I completely agree with the reviewer; it’s a great demonstration of how art can be created with any part of one’s body. Now, let’s think about it: if we had all 5 of them nude in a bed, wouldn’t we be telling them HOW MUCH WE LOVE their album?

Well, my "asshole" was certainly of little consequence, given that it was said in response to one of your stupid remarks, but it was clearly meant in jest, while the tone of the conversation became more serious afterwards. The problem, which you don’t grasp, is not that Dream Theater may not be to everyone's taste, but that one must justify their assertions and ideas, and that, in any case, they remain strictly personal opinions.
