I need to feel urgency from the music. Not finding it, I seek out something else. It's not here for me. Regardless of the timing (and this will be the 35th time I'm writing it).

Do you believe that, coming from a (albeit rough) synth pop - new wave background, it took me just 5 minutes to digest a good album like "Reel to Real" by Simple Minds (1979, at least give it a listen, it’s interesting, the foundation for their great subsequent albums)? Until about a year ago, I would have never wanted to buy it; now it’s often in the CD player. The same goes for the "Psychedelic Furs" (Kilburn's sax is still a strong distinctive feature, and wonderful to boot. This is a plus, at least for me). I need time to understand the musical proposal. I’ve dedicated a fair bit to DT, as it’s a genre I listen to very little, and I think I’ll dedicate more, if only out of scruple, but... aside from a few tracks, I just don’t notice any particularity that makes me enjoy listening to them. And I continue to find too many pieces unnecessarily stretched out (and also dispersive, just look at Metro I, which I’ve listened to too).

As for immersing oneself in the role, it’s absolutely important, but it takes time and dedication to truly understand a certain type of music. The point is that if these times stretch on too long, not much is achieved... the musical proposal has failed its purpose as far as my ears are concerned.

Easy, in truth you’re a convinced dark post-punker, and say it!! :-)
...having a viewpoint that’s TOO specific, in my opinion, isn’t good. It excludes certain musical choices in favor of others from the start. And I wouldn’t want to limit myself to just looking for clones of The Cure or New Order or Depeche Mode.
