As for the underestimation of John Foxx, especially compared to the very first DM works, you're right. His music is more challenging to listen to, and that's why "just can't get enough" is much more danceable and commercial, but "it’s worth less" in terms of overall artistic quality. However, I appreciate the band's constant growth, which has managed, starting from "some great reward," to write increasingly deeper and more ambiguous lyrics, with sound solutions balancing catchiness (after all, they have to make a living too!) and sophistication. I believe this should be taken as it is, a hallmark of theirs, in my opinion their true, unique innovation: never repeat themselves, make electronics popular without compromising, offer more interpretive angles "to the masses," all with irony (just look at the comments at the end of the Qzerty review). And I love Martin Gore's religious musings. At the very least, I'd like to see Cardinal Ruini's face during a "john the revelator" or "I feel you." Finally, it's not like they sold that much anyway. Twice as much as the Cure, but less than half of Mariah Carey. Then someone will have to explain to me why record companies always attribute a huge 6 million copies to the first idiot who comes out with stuff like "you're biutifuuul" or "fuck you" (really in bad taste) etc. Advertising as the only explanation is no longer enough for me. Is there really such a mass of people buying this stuff? With all due respect. :-(

Thanks again, but I've already experienced the Depeche Mode plenty of times! XD (uhm...) Seriously, I bought "Some Great Reward" in Florence during a school trip. Well spent money, no doubt about it. I affectionately call it the Metallone. Some of the clangs on that album are truly unique in their entire discography. But perhaps it's better this way; their tacit yet ironclad agreement to never use the same sounds twice on their albums has benefited the band's originality. It's no coincidence that they're my favorite: since 1983, they've always evolved, with many great atmospheric songs, never too similar but always with a recognizable sound, good lyrics despite what people say, written with ferocious ambiguity (all "music for the masses," or the raw "blasphemous rumours," subtly ironic about our tendency to blame God for everything bad that happens), and a great vocal timbre.

Ege, the record in question doesn't quite convince me at the end, but you know how it is, the usual story of the 30-second samples that sometimes fall awkwardly on the track and give you a distorted idea. For this reason, I think I'll get it anyway. Then, I can't seem to find "warp" by New Musik. Should I take a listen on Amazon Japan? (but who understands the ideograms...?!) I also need to track down The Smiths and that dark and fascinating black crow from '79 that you narrated about months ago. Gorgeous cover. Not to mention the first New Order and a certain curiosity for the early Ultravox! and those crazy Devo-lutionaries! (you've planted another bug in my head! Well done!). As you can see, my new wave list is long, and it will also have to go through the adoptive fathers of Depeche Mode.

Well, the girl is converting. Now that she has "reached and touched with faith" the DM, I see "precious" glimpses of serenity.

Uh, if you take into account the strong euro and other little things, I would tell you to do the math in British pounds. And damn, they really screw you on the exchange rate. ££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££ £££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££ ££££££££££££££££££££££

"like toy soldiers" is partly based on the eponymous piece by Martika, from nineteen eighty-something.

The first impression was disappointing. But since then, a lot of water has flowed under the bridges. You said, well, Disco stu: I had to get "californication" out of my head, and now I've managed to do that (not that I needed all this effort...). This album requires a little bit of time if you're coming from the end and not the beginning. Then it rocks. Summery.
