but I remember "badare," not "fare bada." I don't know, I must be old... :-)

To sum up, I wanted to say that I appreciate authors with this linear style much more. In my opinion, it's harder to write in this way. I speak to you in a "sustained," convincing manner because I occasionally write something myself, and thus I aspire to maximum expressiveness combined with maximum refinement, linearity of discourse, but also essentiality. And believe me, it's not easy to square the circle! You need to be able to complete the discussion without digressing to the point of forgetting the beginning (ahem... see the 659 tempo changes in pieces used by the DT. They often lack a logical thread; I don't see all that necessity) and without redundancies, meaning two stanzas that are almost identical or different but want to convey the exact same thing, without even a minimal variation in meaning or imagery. Let me explain this last point: if I have to prove four different theorems, it's pointless to find four different ways to prove one theorem. It's better to have a more universal method that, with minor variations, can prove all four different theorems. Then, it's clear that all four theorems together lead to the proof of a single hypothesis. :-)

Last thoughts on lyrics, setting aside images and ambiguity. I have the impression that both Gore and Smith have the ability to develop lyrics in a linear way, meaning it seems like they’re speaking to you following a logical thread that you never have to assume. It’s like when you’re trying to charm a girl: generally, it doesn’t pay to throw four unrelated images at her right away. You need to skillfully lead the conversation gradually to the key points. :-) Then again, my girlfriend has caught me off guard with all my disjointed ramblings (we're similar) and has put me on a pedestal—better that way! Even though it does scare me a bit.

Um, I wanted to say, innovation and/or ambition... In conclusion: everyone, as is right, has their opinions, more or less supported by emotions and technical knowledge. The important thing is that you don't tell me that you don't like DM just because they fit the pop format. That would be wanting to analyze the mere structure of a piece, overlooking everything else, perhaps even the analysis of the images used.

what if it were a diabolical whole?

Well, in my opinion, their true innovation was to legitimize "for the masses" electronics, rather than reinventing the standards. In this sense, "Violator" (1990) is attributed a certain influence on the stylistic setting of the '90s, including house music. Having few instruments and skills at my disposal, I can't objectively discuss the issue. I can maybe say that, to my ear, I hear something of that. In any case, I like Gore's songwriting, simple yet ambiguous; I wouldn't lower it to the level of boy bands. I've never done a parallel analysis of the Smith-Gore lyrics and themes, but it's something that could be interesting. If I find Smith superior, I won’t hesitate to admit it. Holding tight all the emotions that DM have nonetheless given me! (Of course, the same for the Cure... if they didn’t give me anything, I wouldn’t have six albums at home, even though "The Head on the Door" doesn’t have much impact). Bye! :-)

don't kill me. I can't bring myself to hate "once upon a time". I was listening to it again today, and I even enjoyed it. I don't know, maybe I'm just taken... :-)

And sorry if I wrote in bits and left some ideas implied or halfway through... as I told you, I'm overwhelmed... and I think in flashes:-)))))

And then, thinking back on it, the objective quality of an album also partly lies in its ability to generate symbolism. In short: I wanted to get to the following. DM: enjoy the silence, a very canonical format, minimal lyrics, in my opinion a tremendous atmosphere. Cure: disintegration. Any comment is superfluous. 5/5. Then, DT: and here, the 9 minutes or so per track don’t mean much to me for a good 70%. I won't deny that "images and words" or "awake" have two or three tracks that I really like, partly because they were gifts from friends, reminding me of good times. But I don’t have that much desire to listen to them again. On the other hand, without a "violator," to quote the DM again, or without a "disintegration," well, my sample of emotions would be quite affected. I hope I haven't annoyed you too much with this sentimental stuff. (I won't talk about DT anymore here to avoid the mess over there, which you know well.)
