Charles Mingus The Great Concert Of Charles Mingus

Lux, have you ever seen Collateral by Michael Mann? Well, there’s a scene where Spanish Key is playing, taken right from Bitches... Sometimes it happens to me while watching a movie and hearing a piece of music that I get it. Anyway, it’s a tough album; it doesn’t hit you right away, but for me, it’s also Miles's best, as well as the peak of his harmonic exploration (and the one I never feel like listening to). And for me, it’s jazz because for purists, even those who played swing, be-bop wasn’t considered jazz, and we return to the discussions of Basentini.

>>>Hello guys, today we are talking about a singer who perfectly depicts a certain professional and human trajectory: the sweet and charming Wilma Goich, a Ligurian singer of Dalmatian origin who, in her recent and past photos (see on the side), reminds me so much of a family friend, or even an aunt, one of those who are always ready to welcome us into their home and cook us delicious treats.<<< Truly, in that photo, she looks like a crew member of the enterprise ready for warp speed; anyway...

it seems like a very cacophonous commitment

I appreciate quite a few guest appearances on other people's records by Rypdal, while from his own work I wanted to hear what you reviewed that might be closer to my tastes if it's in the realm of Bitches Brew. However, from his solo work, I only know Odyssey, which is not bad at all but gives me the same effect as a lot of ECM stuff...

go there, soft pastel that you are nothing else.

"Let's say that when I think of him, I think of a musician who has an overall sonic vision": very true, I fully agree. And in my opinion, that's especially what makes his music interesting. I must say that I get really bored with many records by guitarists considered pillars of jazz, classical, or contaminated music like in this case, who are very self-referential and often completely lack that overall vision.
Regarding the second part, I agree less: aside from the fact that if we relied solely on innovation, many would fall by the wayside, for me all the work on effects, on the lever, on harmonic choices and phrasing is definitely original, but in an expressive way, unlike many highly regarded experimenters whose direction I don't quite understand. Then perhaps you attribute these characteristics more to the composer than the instrumentalist; for me, in this case, it would be difficult to separate the two.

Why doesn't Jake convince you as a guitarist? There's no doubt that he's a very talented and original composer, but as a guitarist, he's definitely one of the most skilled and unique ones I know.

fuck, what a beautiful review... this 77 is a mythological figure, someone who used to do impossible things (not by chance: ask 77 if you don't know how to do it), and yet Ferretti spoke of him as one of the most intelligent people he had ever known and how he had a great influence on the CCCP. Then I know he died around the mid-80s, if I remember correctly... but I really didn't know he had also recorded something. But can this recording from the upside be found somehow, or did you do it on purpose to make us jealous?

Oh, finally after a bunch of boring stuff, a guitar album with some guts. I prefer Best laid plans, but this is still a great record. Anyway, Torn is truly a giant of the guitar.
