I spilled a bit in your old review of "Not Available"...by the way, I discovered DeBaser thanks to that!

How nice to discover that there are other people who appreciate this album! But, I guess we always end up among a few cats listening to these records, and taking a look around, those that have been discussed the most are definitely not this one or that one by Airone on the Suicide (very nice) or that one by Spacca on the Minutemen (I noticed the controversy with a guy who mocked you for reviewing a "useless" album like Double Nickel... mind-blowing) or those by EasyCure. Thanks for the vote, guys, maybe I'll write another one! By the way, dear Easy, I saw that you have quite a bit of fun creating havoc among the certainties of metalheads and pop fans... ;) but sometimes I can't resist either...

I really like Frankie and I share a lot of his thoughts, but I no longer agree with expressing political ideas so directly. I don't believe a record can be too uncomfortable, especially in Italy. It might create a stir for a few days and get people talking, but that's about it. And since you mentioned Gaber, I can't help but think of songs with politically violent lyrics like "Io se fossi Dio" or "Quando è moda, è moda": does anyone remember them? I fear very few do... In short, I no longer share the singer-songwriter's illusion that you can change the world with a song, at least not in such a direct way. At most, you can get some drunken kid to raise their fist at a concert of the Modena City Ramblers, or those who get cheered from a stage shouting "Berlusconi deve morire" or "W Che Guevara" (how sad...). Then, Frankie is an intelligent person, but when he sings "ricordati che sei colonna di un sistema," it reminds me of the scene from the film "Non ci resta che piangere," where a friar shouts at Troisi: "ricordati che devi morire!" and he replies, "Yeah, wait, let me write that down..."

...but I think I can trust you, I've seen the albums you've reviewed and there are so many bands I love (but for me that gem by the Red House Painters deserved the highest praise) and then, you reviewed one of my desert island albums, Not available! Come on, don't be stingy with words, say a few more about Hugo Largo!

I was thinking about listening to something by Hugo Largo, but do they sound like Dead Can Dance or Cocteau Twins? I haven't formed a very precise idea...

Hal, compliments really for how you write, very succinct style. I'm starting to appreciate a few people in here, and you are certainly among them, especially for what you wrote about the referendum in the forum...by the way Josi hasn't shown up, and I would have liked to continue the discussion.
