Paul Simon So Beautiful Or So What
Voto:
It is undoubtedly a pleasant and smooth work that can be listened to without particular hiccups. However, as a fan of Simon, I don't find any reasons for particular enthusiasm, perhaps just a few moments that are a bit more "dense"... In any case, Simon has left more than one unforgettable moment in his long career. Good critical review.

@JDV: Given the level of popularity of the group, your consideration can only be appreciated. As an old fan, I must reiterate that their most interesting works, in my opinion, lie in certain parts of the "quadrilogy" from the period with the "Island" label that I have already mentioned here. I particularly suggest "Waves." A link ---> ...even if the ...waves have very different aspects from one another :-)

I was really sorry to lose him. I had seen him more than once, in different contexts over the years, and it was always a pleasure to watch his unique journey. ...And in the meantime, it seems we've also lost Joni, at least artistically, at least. Not that her "Shine" was all that sparkling to be honest. Did you listen? Cheerz

@jack: listening to the old "classics" by Simon undoubtedly has a whole different effect..., so I completely understand your position ;-)

Despite everything, I find it to be a dignified work overall, well conceived and well played. In my opinion, doubts—though it's a matter of taste—may arise from Spitaleri's interpretative style, which I personally find overly theatrical. Good arrangements and the keyboards stand out pleasantly, even if it’s probably the "usual" old-fashioned prog.

Well, I’ll take the opportunity to send a heartfelt greeting to Omahaceleb too! And... since I’m at it, just in case you don’t already know..., be ready after 14.06. Pat is coming out with a new acoustic one ;-)

The show was undoubtedly up to expectations. They fully reaffirmed the impression of the wall of sound experienced in Trieste in the summer of 2009. There are three of them, but as the author of the review notes, they seem like double... Guy "The Thing" Evans is downright devastating at times. Great review Progknight, even though it’s definitely... too biased!! :-))
Steve Hackett To Watch The Storms
Voto:
I've been following Hackett, I believe, since his early days as a solo artist, and throughout such a long and prolific career, he has undoubtedly produced a considerable amount of work of undeniable value. This, although it doesn't shine with such a bright light, is one of those. Perhaps, compared to other more immediate works, it requires more attentive and frequent listens, but the depth and eclecticism displayed here (as elsewhere) always reveal a good quality of inspiration. By the way, I've always perceived "Mechanical Bride" as a sort of attempt to "rewrite" "21st Century Schizoid Man"; and the pastoral nature of moments like "Serpentine Song" easily brings to mind episodes like "I Talk to the Wind". But that's the beauty of Hackett, perhaps; in this ambivalence and opposition of climates and directions, as in the perpetual coexistence of an acoustic and an electric dimension. The critical review is good. It's evident that the reviewer knows well what they're talking about. :-))
