Biréli Lagrène / Sylvain Luc Summertime

Lagrene had truly started his career on a high note and promised astonishing things. But it hasn't always been that way, unfortunately. I saw him with Jaco, live in '85, I believe, and he was really great back then. Having Django as a reference must have placed a significant responsibility on him, and a certain level of commitment has never been lacking. Perhaps a bit too "technical" and hyper-fast at the expense of a certain communicativeness, but that's just a personal opinion. I’m not familiar with this album, to be clear, but welcome back to the reviewer.

Yes, yes, Supersoul is the ultimate solution.

But no, darling, I leave you the honor and pleasure of having the last word. You have such a colorful way of speaking! Even though you’re heavily lacking in Italian, as you admit and say you don’t know how to write, I know you care and it’s stronger than you, genius. Come on, make us happy! That way we can laugh for another five minutes. There’s always a need for buffoons convinced they are intelligent. If they also have degrees and keep repeating it, it’s even more and better laughter. We all wait hopefully!!!

No, that's not necessary. You've already written enough bullshit, genius.

... and why not "Roxy & Elsewhere"? (and I still side with Holdsworth.... perhaps because he has a nickname that....leaves no doubt about guitar preferences.....?)

There's no point in deluding ourselves; we couldn't have expected anything better from two such heads. In Trieste (and elsewhere) they say "do de lori" (two of them). Simple and clear. @Antologya: Get mad at you??!! Did I read that right? But would it really be worth it, for someone who counts less than zero to me? Poor thing. Keep on understanding only what suits you, and sticking your nose in, as resentful as you are. I had only informed you about how not at all funny your pseudo-infantile dimwittedness is to me (and it still is). And the touchy "man of the world" couldn't take it. And as soon as he can, he goes back on the attack. There you go. Yes, it's better to keep ignoring you, with all the pathetic nonsense you've continued to write afterwards.... Ah, what a lovely evening, full of stars.....yes, yes, without iPod and without amarok-tarok.... Farewell, clueless ones.

Always better Amarok, sharper and wittier! Even right outside my house in Terronia! Keep it up, you're doing great. You really get it. Forget about "Basic Instinct" and persecutions. Instead, go back to "Basic School"... and make sure to keep Amarok on the iPod at full volume for another ten years!!!

I didn't understand Hymnen's comments. First, he "agrees" with Holdsworth (post 48), who ardently adores Zappa, and then in the following posts, he heavily doubts the figure and value of the character and the 25 albums produced after "Uncle Meat" (posts 53 and 56). Is it possible to get some clarifications, please? In short, how much is this Zappa worth?

Well, Amarok74, "For example, I have no problem saying that when it comes to writing reviews, I am (actually, I would be, because I don't write them) an eminent piece of crap..." let's say you have perhaps hit the nail on the head of awareness? And once again it comforts me to know that you understand how "life should be taken." As for "writing," you are truly skilled at continuously making excuses. Writing mountains of pretentious comments, yes, but reviews, no? What humility and what talent. Regarding the guy from comment no. 30, I prefer not to comment, and besides, it's not worth it. It's unsigned, and he states things that made me smile (like that I wouldn’t tolerate someone who knows more about music than I do... if anything, it's the exact opposite that's true). It's surprising how someone can draw direct conclusions with such great confidence about a person they have never known. I take what I read for what it’s worth; a hollow and silly provocation made by a nobody. If this person has the kindness to sign their name or to write directly to me, maybe we can discuss it; otherwise, I repeat, it really means very little or nothing at all. Ah, I almost forgot, thanks for the "fool." In a way, you have already (dis)qualified yourself.

For fun, there’s no problem. I certainly don’t lack opportunities, so rest assured that the underlying issue remains here. It’s not that, amarocchino74, just because you cling to something else or new "escape routes" just to avoid giving simple answers, you lack the guts - in every sense - to respond? You must have two degrees for a reason, or do you only understand chemical formulas and enjoy rambling on, convinced you’ll always find what you consider superficial commentators? Do you have a spine? Instead of continuing to dodge questions and clarifications with your "light" and evasive spirit, show us how intelligent you are. Then maybe we’ll all laugh together, really. As for "torturing the balls," anyone can look up your often venomous comments and tones on this site and see how much you've "tortured the balls" of quite a few people, Mr. "I-know-it-all." It thus seems that you can’t really afford the haughty profile you’re trying to maintain. And then you’re just vulgar and often offensive. Your trumpeted academic titles only become an additional source of embarrassment. As for apologies, whether genuine or ironic, it’s better to leave that alone.
