it's not that it doesn't fit, it's just that his music is called tintinnabuli as he himself says. Of course, he also reduces the compositional material to the bare minimum, but for different purposes, to eliminate the superfluous as he himself says, and it recalls the early forms of liturgical music. It seems very different to me from the minimal repetitive experiments of Reich, Glass, or Riley, at least in terms of attitude.

I don't call it minimalism because, in my opinion, it isn't; it's not even sacred minimalism. Honestly, these are two categories that have little to do with what I mean... when I think of minimalism, I think of Steve Reich or La Monte Young.
