I agree with you when you say that this album has little in common with MBV and the like, and in fact, upon closer reflection, one can affirm that no band from the shoegaze era has the same sound as another. Perhaps this is precisely what I appreciate most about this "movement." Unfortunately, I cringe when someone talks about Brit-pop citing Ride, when it is precisely the birth of this genre (which I don't completely disdain) that led to the demise of bands like Slowdive, which, in my humble opinion, are never missed enough.

Paralysed is truly an amazing track with a thrilling ending. However, the album doesn't come close to various MBV, Slowdive, Swervedriver, Chapterhouse, Curve, and anyone else you can think of. Either way, long live Ride and down with Oasis.
