alternative music is infinitely more valuable than commercial music! alternative music is art! commercial music is crap made just to make billions! it’s not about being a know-it-all or wanting to act enlightened... the point is I’d rather read Kant's "Critique of Pure Reason" than the new age bullshit with deep maxims like "free your mind" or crap like that... I prefer a Picasso painting to a poster... I prefer a record where the artist has worked hard to create original music rather than four idiots (without naming names.. you all know who I’m talking about) declaring "we make music just for money"... doing 2+2 doesn’t seem very complicated to me... I WONDER WHY there are so many people here defending alternative music... a mystery...
this is junk that might be fine for a thirteen-year-old kid coming home from school and grabbing the first CD he finds.. not for people who want to listen to refined music... and then there’s the claim that nobody knows alternative bands… first of all, IT’S NOT TRUE as there are hundreds of specialized sites… (from the disliked Scaruffi to Ondarock to Kalporz, etc.) and then honestly, this is rather a COUNTERPROOF! Rest assured that a record bought by the masses will never be, one hundred percent, a record of value…
keep listening to this crap while I’m meanwhile putting on the platter Red Crayola, Chrome, Von LMO, Residents, Blind Idiot God, etc...

No, for me it was "Trout Mask Replica"... before that, music wasn't "so" alternative... Anyway, I stand corrected: the least commercial album by far is "Half Gentlemen Not Beasts" by Half Japanese...

he himself admits to being harsher with the more famous groups to counter the excessive esteem they enjoy.
that’s just it…what kind of criterion is that? if "well oiled" by hash jar had sold 2,000,000 copies worldwide, would it automatically go from masterpiece to garbage? the truth is that scaruffi is a frustrated envious person who wishes he had even a fraction of the following that the baronetti or other "stars" he criticizes have...but I don't agree with those who say that his opinions shouldn’t be criticized. aside from the fact that as a critic he puts himself out there and therefore should expect to be criticized in turn, he doesn't just criticize—he OFFENDS, which is much more serious...he says that the Beatles' choruses are "stupid"...I’m not joking, I can't recall which review it was, but if you find it, you’ll see I’m right...I mean, it’s fine to say anything, but to claim that the Beatles' choruses were stupid shows a lack of understanding in my view...and it’s useless: it may be true that 10,000 groups have invented far more than they did, but there’s no denying it: no song grabs me like those of the fab four, despite listening to many different groups and loving numerous others (with some exceptions).

x bowie: I wouldn't say that for Piero the measure is solely originality...if you read his reviews closely, you'll notice that his metrics are noise, the length of the suites (he's obsessed with these suites and jams!) and the overall un-listenability.
In practice, for him, the more unlistenable an album is, the more chaos there is (think of "twin infinitives" by Royal Trux...or "Trout Mask"...two albums that frankly, aside from the meaning behind them, I’ve never understood how they can be enjoyable...but should listening be suffering or pleasure? And should one listen to something even while blocking their ears just for the sake of saying "I’m listening to a masterpiece"?) and the more it’s worth...

Yeah... a masterpiece... and to be honest, I couldn't care less about the opinions of a few similar scruffians... (by the way, even Piero, who really gets on my nerves, let's be clear, gives this album an 8.5) ... for me, it is THE album of 1996 and that’s it...
Let’s say that according to my 1996 ranking:
1) Millions
2) Remnaints
3) Labradford
And I've said it all.
