well... I don't really find it that seminal and derivative... their strength rather lies in being a happy island in the musical landscape, which is the opposite! Personally, though, I get bored after ten to twenty minutes... Good review.

I've totally changed my mind about Scaruffi... he's just a pathetic jerk and nothing more.

For those who say that the Beatles didn't invent anything: dear one, if rock had only been punk, noise, and experimentalism, then we could say that the Velvets invented everything. But look a bit... in the history of music, there has been and continues to be pop as well. And in pop (a genre that only that pretentious idiot Scaruffi dismisses and labels as repetitive and boring, just because he doesn't like it) so many things have been invented (I can only think of an album like "Song Cycle" by Van Dyke Parks) that it has nothing to envy as a genre to psychedelia, noise, punk, etc. Unfortunately for you, the Beatles have been influential in pop, perhaps even more than the VU for other genres... half a century of music would never have existed without them (the baroque pop of Curt Boettcher and Scott Walker? The Smiths? The House of Love? The Madchester sound? Britpop? Synth pop? The British neopsychedelia of My Bloody Valentine or Ride? The neo-cameristic pop of the last decade? None of these would have existed). But this is clear when you have only one source like that clown Scaruffi...

It may be, but it seems immature to give a 2 for a mistake in English grammar.
