Afterhours I milanesi ammazzano il sabato
Voto:
Afterhours are the best Italian band. Of course, in my opinion. This album is hard to digest; it’s so different from the previous two: peculiar rhythmic choices, layered sounds, songs that come back to being numerous and short, the irony and aggression peeking out again since the days of "Hai paura del buio?", despite what those who say they’re done might think. There are all the references you mentioned (after all, if Manuel has been knowing and working with Dulli for a while, there must be some influence, right?), but I don’t see anything wrong with that. Similarities in the artistic field can be found everywhere: it’s called processing external stimuli, and everyone does it. I like the lyrics you quoted; "tarantella all'inazione" is beautiful, "pochi istanti nella lavatrice" is just awesome and will be a blast live, "orchi e streghe sono soli" is spectacular, if Verdena made songs like this, the world would be a better place. Last but not least: Manuel & Co.'s latest effort (without those damn quotation marks) is far from easy to review, brother, but from what I see, it’s easy to throw around ironic nonsense.

Beautiful! Gorgeous! The single is a ton of fun! The review says what needs to be said. It may not be a masterpiece; Cave has done better (unfortunately, I can't judge since I hardly know him...), but as you say. However, I'm perfectly fine with there being non-masterpieces like this around to brighten my days.

Heard for the first time on the metro today. Beautiful! Too bad that "Cioccolato I.A.C.P." had already told it two years ago when I saw them live: I missed the surprise effect of the Toblerone...

xandrea_brindisi: yes, I agree, there are quite a few alternative conformists who end up proposing the usual mix of bad voice + effects + "artistic" little studio with guitars. But in the end, it's probably physiological: I suppose there's an analogous "little England" or "little Sweden," etc. However, there are also people who are worth it and who are proving it with their exportability, which perhaps was less common in past years. Anyway, enough talking: in the end, we mostly agree, and maybe we just have slightly different tastes (just for the record: I’m listening to Amen but it’s not convincing me, oh well, patience). Cheers.

x biaspoint: thanks, no problem at all. In fact, I hardly intervene at all, so it’s understandable that I might be mistaken for the classic one_post_and_gone.

Fantastic. Seen live in Rome and they are absolutely captivating.
My favorite piece: "building a boat". It really feels like early Coral.
