Nine Inch Nails Year Zero

I totally agree. It's a lovely pop album and also danceable; I don't understand what's wrong with it... The mixing is perfect, a bit over the top, true, but the recording quality is top-notch. Personally, I've noticed over time that Trent has managed to capture the cooler, more easy-listening sides of his music, especially in his vocal use (that repetitive pseudo-whispering, those sharp and decisive sounds, those deliberate and at times pathetic deviant tones, acid 'underground' vibes, that ultra hi-fi trend in the use of electronics), also shifting towards more 'disco-move-your-foot-move-your-hea d' environments. However, this isn't entirely negative, as this 'new' music should be seen as just that—new and detached from the entire previous artistic career of the cheerful Reznor (more and more). Of course, I disapprove of Trent wanting to get closer and closer to the mainstream, with videos, advertisements, and media clamor. Total rating: 3.5-4.

Oops, without listening to the album, I doubt I can already give it a 5.

Funeral is truly a MASTERPIECE for me. Some may not like it, but the arcades have driven me crazy. I hope they do it again.

I like the album, I like Sonic Youth. Maybe that's why. I found the SY to be more hidden and homey, with some sounds almost constellation-like...interesting. A very minimalist but precise review: 2.5.

the heritage orchestra... first of all, compliments to sfascia for the really well-done review, as always. I listened to some of this crowd of crazies on myspace... interesting, a bit of 'old style' rock in terms of sound, high technical quality. I'm undecided about the purchase.
