ALBUM OF THE YEAR (one of them).
The Rolling Stones Undercover

Well, from what I understand from the comments, this album wasn’t experienced firsthand. The Rolling Stones were pop for fifty-year-olds like me (god... this is my outing...) a real POP thing... and this album – especially the title track – rocked the jukebox. Do you know? The jukebox in the neighborhood bar? That huge box where you put in a coin and it crackled music? (and you could actually see the vinyl settling on the turntable and the needle starting the song). Well: Undercover is all of this.

Welcome to this desolate land! (as far as electronics go...) I preferred the previous one, but it's still great to listen to.

Anyway, this experience through Facebook with Newcombe has made me reflect a lot. Five years ago, I would have greeted every new album release with enthusiasm, still enjoying the pleasure of discovery and surprise. Instead, now following the works in progress and maybe even participating with comments or suggestions... I don’t know. Perhaps as a fan you feel involved, yes... but in the end, music should stand on its own. It should be able to evoke the imagination, fantasy, or an inner film... but instead, every track I listen to from this album reminds me of that video Anton uploaded 10 months ago or that webcam where he played it in a homemade concert with some friends. And in the end, the starting reference is no longer the album but the internet.

this is Anton's personal youtube page. anton newcombe As you can see, many tracks from this album have already been uploaded about ten months ago. I can’t understand why he didn’t include this one as well anton newcombe ... However, Anton's presence on the internet is really massive. On fb, at one point, it almost exploded... delirious anti-American, anti-religion, anti-everything speeches, along with a stream of fans' comments, something you wouldn't even see on debaser... and in the end, he closed his account; he just couldn’t handle it anymore, I think he was practically online 24 hours a day even with his telematics television, DeadTv. Always on webcam chatting with all sorts of people publicly (while you could see his wife in the background doing house chores). Luckily, the tour has arrived now, so he has been able to disconnect. Maybe he’s pulled away from heavy drugs... but the internet is a heavy drug too! Especially if you have a very inflated ego... :)

I agree with SilasLang on the impeccable review. As for Anton, I'm starting to have some significant reservations... We've been in touch on Facebook, and over the past two years, I've been able to follow him pretty much every day... so the tracks presented in this album are not a novelty for me. Illuminomi and Panic In Babylon I've heard in various forms and even shared on Facebook with other enthusiasts - I must say he chose the best versions for the record. In any case, the new influences surrounding good old Anton come from three bands: Singapore Sling, Dead Skeletons, and Spindrift. In this record and/or on tour, elements from these bands play with him... it's essentially a mutual exchange: since Anton has been living in Berlin (about three years now), he has surrounded himself with these enthusiastic guys, especially Singapore Sling and Dead Skeletons, whom he has produced, and in return, he has renewed his own inspirations...

I care about the Best! I'll reread it tomorrow (today), right now it's 4 AM... there's that sentence that starts with "concio del fatto" and ends with "davvero chi siamo" that I need to reread and meditate on thoroughly! :)

nice and affectionate review, but if I may point out... the sentences are too long, really long. Reading them feels like holding your breath! :)
