I have never treated Katatonia as a rare gem; I know very well that they have been playing for ages and that they are well-known. So what? Great album. Really. It's truly honest, compared to all the crap of the genre that's out there... But if we really have to label it in some way (but why should we?), we inevitably have to call it nu metal.
However, I recommend it because such an honest nu metal album hasn't been heard in a long time. Good review too.

Perhaps you didn't understand, when I mentioned "intimist Slipknot" I was referring to the music, not the lyrics, and it's the first time they've written a melodic song of this kind... I have all their albums so I believe I can say that.

But please. The Immortals were great in the past, and they remained so until their breakup!! It’s true, Battles in The North is a milestone... But it’s not their best album!!! Because gems like "At The Heart Of Winter" and the much-criticized yet beautiful "Sons Of Northern Darkness" are true masterpieces. Far from being puppets of the record label. Far from being pathetic. They are the true spirit of Norwegian black metal!!

Yes, the album is kind of a letdown... but I have to admit that listening to it at 14 contributed to my transition from punk to metal... it sounds stupid but that's how it is. So, I have a bit of an emotional attachment to it. Alright, I'll give it a 3 for friendship. Even though they really get on my nerves.
