I don't want to speak well of Burzum and I never will. I won't do it because I find his ideas absolutely ridiculous—actually, I find it ridiculous that he's so anchored to Nordic ideology. Have we lost our minds? However, for me, with an album like Filosofem, he managed to put into music what he felt, and that's all I ask for. I don't care if he's an idiot. When I wrote the review on Burzum and gave him that score, it was because I evaluated this aspect; obviously, you, Airone, might think I'm crazy, you simply evaluated a different aspect. That's my opinion. I don't find guttural sounds ridiculous in 2005 because it's part of the genre; it's a characteristic of death metal. You say that metal is anchored in its clichés. Fine, then let's play jazz without the trumpet or how about we play rock without an electric guitar? Let's do opera without a tenor but with a nice screaming voice, how does that sound? It could be done, as far as I'm concerned. But honestly, I find it pointless to claim that metal has nothing left to say today. Damn, this is the genre, and innovation has to be sought within the genre itself; if you step outside of these stylistic elements, then you're automatically changing genres—it’s logical! At this point, I don't know, in 100 years will we stop listening to music because no one will have anything left to say? What kind of talk is that, excuse me… What sense does a phrase like "after Tool, emptiness" make? Can you imagine if there were only Tool and we could only listen to them? Rightly so, they are the only ones worth listening to… I repeat, what kind of talk is that!! I'll tell you: it's nonsense. Let's use criticism (and self-criticism), please.

I understand what you mean and I assure you that you are completely wrong. I am not excited because I listen to "niche" music. I am excited because I listen to music that I love. I know very well that Katatonia are not niche, and contrary to what you think, I don’t care at all! I feel thrill when I listen to Chopin, Mozart, or Beethoven as well. Are they niche artists? Or perhaps they are artists known all over the world, studied even in school? You, Airone, are playing the part of the former metalhead who has moved on from these things and wants to teach us, who are still deeply into metal. But I assure you that the path you have taken is just one of many possible ones, just as there can be a metalhead who listens to Wyatt and remains faithfully anchored to the world of metal. Because that’s what he loves, not because it’s the only thing that exists for him. And this is my case. And perhaps this is precisely what you fail to understand...

Again, this tendency of yours to generalize. 80% of metal plays with clichés, the remaining 20% seeks to break free, and it's precisely here that we need to look. You are someone who has been disappointed by metal; I am someone who sees it as a reason to stay alive. Do you realize that you are categorizing an entire musical genre in this way? On what basis do you judge an album a "masterpiece"? On what grounds do you say that one album is metal or classical music and another is not? Tell me, I want to understand so that we can at least discuss it. I can't make you understand my opinion if I don't better understand yours and the basis on which you make it. This is because I know you are someone with years of musical experience behind you and certainly not a novice, and for that, I have a lot of respect for you, even if I don’t agree with many of your ideas at all. Perhaps this is where our opinions diverge, and honestly, I don't really feel like giving you right.
