I understand… well, in the end, you're right, the really exciting tracks are in the first part… In any case, for me a 3 is too little… Let's clarify a few points, In Flames have never played death metal but melodic death, which is a very different thing; If "Soundtrack to Your Escape" could be considered nu metal, with this album they've returned to their roots. Moreover, it’s pointless and counterproductive for fans to expect a second "The Jester Race" since more than 10 years have passed…

In my opinion, you are too negative in your judgment. They certainly don’t say much, and I hate it when they go off the rails at certain points, with some out-of-place melodies, but overall they aren’t bad musically, starting with Aaron Lewis who is vocally gifted. Too commercial for purists, but in my view, one shouldn’t pay too much attention to prejudices here; those who listen closely can notice all the nice heavy riffs, with a cleverly cursed soul, and the many interesting ideas inserted throughout. On the other hand, there are also quite a few moments of "stagnation." Break The Cycle feels very much like an immature, incomplete album, rushed to completion with tension hanging over it. Nevertheless, it’s still listenable: at least a passing grade is deserved. The cover is wonderful.

Absolutely stunning album, probably the best since the era of "Colony." Here everything is really perfect, nothing to critique. The review is nice and I agree with a good part of it, but I don’t understand that unfair rating and why the reviewer says that the album has little to say. If this album has little to say, then "Reroute to Remain" didn’t say a damn thing! :-D It seems to me that it has a lot to say, indeed it does... It has set back on track the true path of In Flames, which seemed distorted and gone to waste...
