Every Mogwai album is a masterpiece for those who love them... and I am among them... There's no point in citing sterile comparisons. If it's true that albums like Come On Die Young are unrepeatable (Punk Rock, Cody... all songs among the best ever played by Mogwai), it is also true that Mr. Beast contains gems like Glasgow Mega-Snake, which might be my absolute favorite Mogwai song, for as simple as it is while simultaneously steeped in melancholy, pain, and anger... SUBLIME... And the review captures the idea. I’m giving you 5, in defiance of those who trashed you (the album and the review)!

"Punk Rock" is simply the best intro in the world for an album, in my opinion... I’m absolutely in love with it. The best introduction in the world. Pure crystalline cold melancholy with a voice that explains what punk rock is, with a cadence as if Jack Kerouac were speaking, expressing the intentions of the whole band... BRILLIANT

12 Stones are the classic idea-less, mediocre, derivative, harmless... and irresistible band. One of the catchiest groups I’ve ever listened to. To say the least, they are exhilarating. They are mediocrity made music, settling for writing tunes, but my God, they have choruses of disarming effectiveness. The best rating is in the middle: 3.
