It seems stupid to get hung up on the Scandinavian origins of a band... have you perhaps forgotten the Italian black scene????? Handful Of Hate, Forgotten Tomb, Lorn, Imago Mortis, Kult... some of my favorite black groups are all Italian. Not to mention other scenes like the French one, with Seth and Ancalagon, and so on, and black bands from the most unexpected regions, like Asia... (check out the Japanese Sigh, the Korean Sad Legend, or the Vietnamese Sword Of Darkness), or from Eastern countries like Hungary (Forest Silence and Sear Bliss), Poland (Iuvenus), and especially Ukraine (the wonderful Hate Forest and Drudkh, both flag bearers of a new way to play black...). In short, guys, it's not just Mayhem and Darkthrone, wake up!!!

I also know the Khanate. I think they are among the best in the drone field and possible descendants of Sunn 0))). However, not being a fan of drone, I don't listen to them. I love doom in all its forms, from stoner to funeral to sludge. But I just can't digest drone, sorry. The reception is beautiful as usual anyway.

I bought Brave Murder Day in the reissue where I finally found the 3 tracks (included) of this jewel that has become almost impossible to find... What can I say? A MASTERPIECE. Nowhere is unsettling... the central riff is undoubtedly one of the best ever composed by Katatonia.
