I completely disagree that The Wall is an evolution of the previous sound of Pink Floyd. There’s nothing more false.... Waters did emerge after practically a year of retreat with this opera and "The Pros and Cons," presenting it to the group and telling them which project they should pursue. The work of Gilmour and even of Ezrin (not a Floyd album therefore...) is colossal. Let’s say it’s fantastically arranged by Pink Floyd..... I find it hard to think of the Floyd from that period without feeling sad.... The Floyd practically no longer existed (Gilmour recorded a lot of guitar parts without participating in the band's "rehearsals," and Wright was literally kicked out by Waters just as the tour began). Despite all of this (or perhaps because of it), the album stands as a "monolith" of music fixed in time... it’s quite a topic for discussion...... whether you like it or not... even at the time, both the audience and critics were differently aligned..... Chris Blazer, a critic from Melody Maker, said about this album: "I can’t say whether it’s brilliant or atrocious, but I definitely find it irresistible".... well, I align myself with Chris....
