You understand that this plays into the hands of those who only talk about music, as you say in the review.

I don’t quite understand. At this point, you don’t like the album because you had high expectations given all the hype surrounding it, and it didn’t satisfy you enough?!? Well, you’re wrong here. I mean, who cares what others say? I try (as much as possible) to focus on the music and not on the surrounding noise. And in this case, the music is more than just four random synth samples thrown together.

I like it. (and at the same time, I don't like Canadians). I saw them live and I liked them. I agree with the analysis of the indie scene (which doesn't excite me) but I still like them. If the album isn't great (and I repeat "I like it"), tell me if there's anyone in Italy who, at 20, does better in their bedroom with a laptop. It may be derivative and everything you want, but if I (who am 22) had locked myself in my room messing with my PC, I wouldn't have been able to make songs that get stuck in your ears like that. Then, I don't know, if we have to criticize them because Rockit and the blogs have made them their banner, then let's do it.

I've never thought about it this way, but I've noticed that if I enjoy seeing them live, I haven't listened to the album more than two or three times. Maybe I'm just not ready yet.

Better them than a Cremonini or the usual Italian junk. I was highlighting the two different levels and prerogatives of the two groups.

calm down everyone for a moment.
Giardini di Mirò and Canadians have nothing in common; they are grouped under the indie genre because it's simpler, but the music and the processes behind it are a whole different matter.
Dividing Opinions, besides representing yet another step forward for Giardini (it has its flaws, it's not the perfect album), is the result of an intellectual process that is evident in the lyrics and the political positions the band adopts.
Canadians, on the other hand, have fun playing and that’s it; they seem like the Italian Death Cab, fine, some like them, some don’t, but there’s really little that goes beyond light listening. They thrive largely because they exploit the golden moment that this style of music is experiencing.
The problem is that nowadays, with the term or genre indie, everything done by an independent label (maybe) is included, and that has been very popular recently.
To help clarify, Giardini di Mirò lasted three albums and about a decade; Canadians, when the trend changes, won’t be given any attention unless there is a radical change.

listened to the album and it’s nothing special.
the review describes it well; you listen to it, it doesn’t disgust you, but when you turn it off you say "what now?".
as for the debate, Mogwai are the main reason post-rock is known; they certainly aren't the founders of the genre, but along with GYBE, they have been its most famous representatives.
