Have you listened to the latest from Current 93 "Alep at halucinatory mountain"?
Les Claypool Of Whales And Woe

but who cares if Primus comes back when Claypool is churning out albums like this, surrounding himself with collaborators who certainly match the expertise of the other Primus (and sometimes they are actually some of them). on the contrary, now he is even freer to do what he wants. the word "Primus" on the cover of a new album would just be an unnecessary additional label
Cormac McCarthy La Strada

this book is practically a dialogue with God. the relationship between the father and the son is imbued with an unbearable depth, even though it's not narrated (just as Odradek says). a book that carries a sense of apocalypse and redemption, of the misery of the human condition. a book where so many, too many, phrases should be engraved in the rocks of the desert, a book where suffering is silent and uncontainable. a book as black as pitch, without hope, but, worse still, without tears shed. an epochal masterpiece.
Matt Elliott The Mess We Made

together with Coil, the saddest music in the world. I will never tire of praising this singer-songwriter-composer, so different from everything, so unlabelable. His discography is made of 4 rare gems, masterpieces of our years and beyond. It’s the intelligentsia meeting the filthy, stinking alleys of the wretched, with more sensitivity of the latter than the former. I met Matt Elliott in person, and he is serious and silent like his music, "silent" even in explosions of noise. A music of respect for all the downtrodden of the world, and of anger towards power in a broad sense. One of the songs from his latest album says "why not bomb the stock exchange?”, which is the essence of his philosophy. What music, guys, I will never tire of crying while listening to these poems... "I am lonely as a ghost as I sit down to write these notes." Please listen to him, do not deny yourself a wonderful discovery.

Well, it seems to me that they're slowly descending, album by album, and this is inversely proportional to their success. So they’re becoming more and more charming, clever, cheerful, and pop. Indeed, their psycho-folk-pop has transformed into pure pop. Nowadays, I see no psychedelia or LSD left. All I see is a lot of crafting on how to please at first impact. The times of "sung tongs" (a masterpiece for me) are getting further away, in short. The only track that feels less crafted, yet is goofy and super fun (like the old days) is Brothersport.
Hayao Miyazaki Ponyo Sulla Scogliera
Voto:
in my opinion, Miyazaki's best. I was moved in several moments. those who say it's for children are old inside. an incredibly delicate and fragile film, seen from the perspective of the most naive children (and for this reason not suitable for the average child). the high points are the "dialogue" between Ponyo and the newborn's mother and the exchange of messages between Sosuke and his father, who is at sea. incredible. the review, for me, is mediocre because it focuses on secondary things, like the visionary aspect (Miyazaki's trademark - you can't evaluate his films on that, otherwise they would all be masterpieces) and the appearance of the mother (?!). for me, the strong point is precisely the dialogues and the relationships between the children, between the elderly ladies, between the 2 mothers (one human and one sea goddess talking about their children), the power of the final promise, and the fantastic journey on the little boat of the 2 kids (pure poetry). perhaps the most beautiful animated film I have ever seen.
Madonna Ray of Light
Voto:
I listen to a bit of everything: from the dumpster noise of Wolf Eyes to the bucolic folk of Vashti Bunyian, from dubstep to kraut. However, I have to admit that this Madonna album is truly valid (perhaps the only one). Among other things, the track "ray of light" is, in my opinion, the weakest on the album, too winking. In fact, by doing a little research, it turns out that it's the album least liked by the hardcore fans of Ciccone. A bit like Zooropa is the album least liked by the hardcore fans of U2. In any case, pearls before swine.
Boredoms Seadrum/House of Sun

seadrum is the most beautiful piece in the history of music. maybe I'm exaggerating, but maybe I'm not. soul tribalism, which can't get more soulful than this.

Wes Anderson Le avventure acquatiche di Steve Zissou

an absolute masterpiece of refinement in every direction, from dialogues, plot structure, details, cinematography, music, silences, to facial expressions. Far from being pretentious, this is a gem of intimacy that perhaps can only be understood by the most sensitive souls. I instead find pretentious the overvalued "into the wild," precisely because it is antithetical in its message to "steve zissou": epic in principles, with an easy and simplistic moral... meant for Sunday dreamers, in short. "steve zissou" could be a film directed by Michel Gondry or Charlie Kaufman, while "into the wild" could be directed by the most rhetorical Steven Spielberg. Take the comparison for what it is, of course.
