Tinto Brass Il Disco Volante (1963)

Dear Poletti, I’ve been reading you for a while without ever commenting before. Now I’ve decided to. You seem like a very intelligent person, although a bit set in your ways on certain points from which you don’t want to budge. Anyway, in this case, I absolutely agree with you. Veneto was and is a land of bigots. Let’s hope that the future brings some doubt in this regard, but I see it’s going to be tough. I am from Veneto, specifically from Verona, so I’m not speaking just from clichés. The fact that Veneto has become famous for its somewhat clownish and somewhat dangerous mayors, such as Tosi and Gentilini (the latter’s last sentence: ā€œi extracomunitari i dovarea vestirse tutti da useleti e po noi altri coi fusili... pim pimā€), is evidence of my thesis. Or Tosi, who, when he won, had the Lega supporters celebrating as if they had won a football match (exactly the same). Now Tosi, unfortunately, is always in the local newspaper, L'Arena, formerly pro-DC and now pro-Lega, talking about everything he’s doing. It’s a pity that what he’s actually doing (regardless of whether it’s right or wrong, which is debatable) is simply SMALL STUFF, something a mayor of a municipality of 1,000 people would handle, not 260,000. But people are happy with these little nonsense things. And this shows common ignorance. Personal question: why do you always talk about old films universally recognized as masterpieces and not comment on those just released in theaters? Are you saying that a cinephile like you doesn’t go to the cinema anymore? I’d love to hear your personal opinions on films that may still need reviews, just to understand your personal tastes, beyond your undoubtedly encyclopedic knowledge. Speak soon.

Minor triad chords certainly exist, so before talking nonsense, listen carefully. In "Mayfair Song," there are even chords influenced by jazz that would make a classical professor spit in your eye if you played them for him. For me, this album was a sweet surprise, even though I was expecting a total flop. It seems a bit superficial to dismiss an album with UAN CIU TRI and then claim nothing happens... I mean, that’s a statement that’s almost laughable, but it doesn’t help to understand anything, because most of Air's music is UAN CIU TRI and then nothing happens. It seems that your intention is to write some funny gags. Feel free to do so, but not by associating them with albums or any other review subject.

Incredibly, I completely disagree with Zion and Psycho. I find Blow Up to be the only truly respectable Italian music magazine, standing head and shoulders above the rest. I don't see them as a bunch of 25-year-olds pretending to be old, but rather as a group of 35-year-olds being smart 35-year-olds, with independent ideas. As for Rumore... those guys are a different story. In fact, they are 45-year-olds acting like they’re 18, which is much worse. The so-called infamous neo British bands (all brilliant in their own eyes) that do nothing but reproduce in the studio their perfectly valid influences. As for Pitchfork... well, those guys are all about trends. In fact, I think that when they rate an album, they probably just roll a die (with 100 sides -> fools) and write accordingly. Blow Up features names I respect and has often introduced me to great bands overlooked by others (for example, The Eternals, Guapo, El Guapo, and Electrelane).

Matmos The Rose Has Teeth In The Mouth Of A Beast

I’m back, after such a long absence. When I smell the matmos, I rise again. Good. A great album. All different tracks like never before. Incredible the spy story for Patricia Highsmith and the crescendo starting from the gunshot after the beota piano of the track for Burroughs... the delusions of the final banquet for the perverse king, the piece sung in a loop by Antony for Bidgood (who is he?), the porno atmosphere of public sex... the more, the merrier. Of course, the sound of a punch entering the vagina of a cow in the track for Valerie Solanas is quite unpleasant, but how beautiful it is to hear her words quoted: "eliminate the money system and destroy the male sex." Better than A Chance to Cut..., the levels of Civil War, inferior to the unparalleled The West.

what angels you are. thank you for existing. drum's not dead is a colossal blast. the little pajamas too. damn, territorial pissing was my hit in '94. remade by the liars, what would I have done if I had heard it? if I had been there I would have gone crazy, but I’m going crazy just for having missed them.

Hi Trell. I heard them yesterday in Treviso. Timpani ciao ciao. Instead, they played some stuff like Young Team and Come On Die Young (only Christmas Steps) for me. They started with Yes We Are A Long Way Far From Home and had a fantastic finale with Mogwai Fear Satan, stretched to 21 minutes. And then off into the night.
