I wasn't thrilled... too many, too many ambient moments. I much prefer Supersilent 8, the latest one, more varied, while still maintaining a common root in all the pieces. Alienating to say the least. The way they use synthesizers is, I think, unparalleled in history.

Do you know why I believe the story you told isn’t true, but simply a work of fiction? Because it’s impossible that you found ā€œthirdā€ next to the stereo, given that it hasn’t been released in stores yet ;-) Joking aside, I only heard machine gun, and it gave me chills. Far from the now clichés of trip-hop, even more haunting than their ā€˜90s period. There was something kraut about it, I thought. I adore the first two albums by Portishead... I love kraut rock... if you mix them together, I’ll go crazy. I’m eagerly awaiting its release in stores.
PS: Great story, very noir in the style of Jim Thompson. Do you know him?

big big big. the blues of the seventh circle. I would almost be afraid to attend one of his live shows. excellent that not-so-melodic and very percussive piano that underscores his heartbreaking vocal lines. at certain moments it feels like witnessing the flaying of a demon. the covers are by screamin jay hawkins, edith piaf (the aforementioned heaven have mercy) and various pre-war bluesmen.

damn, the review is really beautiful. you perfectly convey the idea of listening. I couldn't have found more fitting words. while listening to this album, it's pointless to come up with rational comments, whether agreed upon or not. everyone simply brings out their own memories.

Yesterday, by mistake (a defect of my car radio), the sound switched from the CD player to the radio. What I heard was a deep sound, worthy of New York in the early '80s. I thought to myself, "What is this wonder?". Then her voice came in, increasingly laconic: Beth Gibbons. It was a track from the new "Third" by Portishead, and if the rhythm stays this way throughout the album, it could be a masterpiece that surpasses even the first two albums.
