Pedro The Lion Achilles Heel
Voto:
Hal, if you want to listen to something by Pedro the Lion, go to the PURE VOLUME site where there's a live recording and some singles you can download for free. Anyway, it's not a Valium album; rather, it's a fast and catchy record that, on the first listen, doesn't say much, but little by little it grabs you and never lets go. All of Pedro the Lion's albums have this effect on me.

Beautiful concise review, this is the first CD of the eels that I purchased, and indeed you're right, the cover encapsulates the essence of a work that is simple, introspective, and at the same time magnificent.

I've been following the Manics since the period of THE HOLY BIBLE, and the evolution of the band is clear: they no longer have the strength to be angry, they've resigned themselves to defeat, and from this has emerged a beautiful, melancholic pop album. Above all, SOLITUDE SOMETIMES IS ...magnificent.
Morrissey You Are The Quarry

Great album, melodic, poetic, inspired, sometimes pissed off: I like it too much: FIRST OF THE GANG TO DIE and LET ME KISS YOU are real masterpieces, what a comeback! The album of the summer.
R.E.M. Around The Sun

A great album, too bad for the lack of some rock acceleration, but the ballads are outstanding: LEAVING NEW YORK, MAKE IT ALL OKAY, and AFTERMATH are already classics for me. The criticisms are unjustified.

It's one of the best albums of 2004, one of the few that truly managed to touch my soul this year. You can tell there are people who have neither heart nor mind to understand certain poetry set to music.
