Art Brut It's A Bit Complicated

Long live the English accent. 4 stars seem too many to me; the album is quite similar to the first one. But they are trying.

However, Nickghost, I also made a comment about the voice because I agree that you need to listen to everything, but you can't blame the album for something you didn't like before listening to it. If I listen to a prog album, write a review, and say I don't like it because the songs have a prog structure, it seems senseless to me... For the rest, the review also has respectable points; the best one seems to be the one mentioned by Easycure, which is that the songs can appear a bit false, perhaps even pretentious, although personally, I don't quite agree.

great-grandchildren of Pink Floyd? come on. there might be some inspiration, but great-grandchildren? plastic soul? that's an exaggeration. ah, the terrible radio pop. or rather, the terrible pop. what an ugly, ugly monster. away with you. damn, there’s no 25-minute sitar solo (scaruffi docet), so it’s not good. oh no! IT JUST DOESN’T WORK. there isn’t even a guitar playing random notes for at least 15 minutes. so how do we figure out if it’s good music or not? we don't have tangible, clear, obvious, measurable signs. the melody scares, it’s frightening. damn, it could be commercial, sell-out music. let’s run, pop is coming! brrrrr. and then if you don’t like Yorke’s voice, I say: why are you even listening? what value does a critical judgment have? you already knew you didn't like it, didn’t you?

Pink Floyd The Piper At Gates Of Down

Anyway, the title that emerged from Barrett's twisted mind was "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn," which means dawn, not down. When writing a review, it would be good if one at least had the title well in mind.

Well, I’ve never understood this. Especially, I don’t get why everyone likes it so much. This album is nice, yes, but nothing special. It recycles old stuff in a somewhat cloying way, mixing Barry White, Morrissey, and Belle and Sebastian.
Babyshambles Shotter's Nation

well, I'm not against it a priori, but I become somewhat against it a posteriori, in the sense that after the blinding ep it seems like a step backward. an album that slips away without leaving a significant mark and without a real reason. except for a few episodes.
Manu Chao La Radiolina

Look, I’m putting my trust in (s)confidence. In my opinion, this is what it does. Because it's fine to be anti-globalization, it's fine to be hardcore, but if you keep making albums with the same two chords, it seems like you're just pulling a fast one. So if someone makes an album, it’s about the music, and if this Manu Chao never makes the slightest creative effort but thinks that wearing a Che Guevara t-shirt and bashing globalization is enough to sell, then he can go screw himself too.

I take back what I said about Strawberry Jam. After all, I mentioned that I hadn't listened to it much. Strawberry is another great album by the Animals, perhaps the best, as they continue to focus more on thinking about the album as a whole, while previously the Animals' albums had some dips or simply didn't flow well. This one is conceived in its entirety. I find the final sequence excellent; after the alienating instrumental #1, it follows with the easiest track on the album, then a hard and challenging piece like cuckoo cuckoo, finishing lightly with the airiness of derek. Chapeau.
