Great idea, I had missed this one. I will look for them. I must say I've seen your list of favorite bands and we have very similar tastes!

I am convinced that this pair of albums will stand the test of time and that history's judgment will be more than favorable because this is music that grows with each listen and is enduring.

Alright, it’s pointless to argue over every single phrase or episode in the book, we’d be here until tomorrow. I didn’t find it that deep. I repeat, the characters are flat and didn’t engage me, the writing is poor, the sociological reflections are trivial, and the psychological ones non-existent. Fine.

No, it does not exclude the other because the flowiness concerns the fact that there are few descriptions and many dialogues (which are quite simple) and action. Confusing instead is the subject of the book, which first seems to be the relationship between father and son and then instead becomes quattroformaggi. The relationship between father and son has no evolution, the characters lack psychology, interiority, and complexity. They are puppets guided by the writer to perform actions that are not psychologically explained and improbable. Why does a 13-year-old boy take a corpse, clean it, and throw it into the river? Ammaniti's writing is too poor to support such an ambitious and complex novel.

Instead, I feel quite decided: this book is absolute nonsense. I'm even angrier because I started it with confidence; I was intrigued by the story of a violent Nazi father’s love. But that’s not there. There’s a confusing story, written in an convoluted language that winks at the most banal fiction. There are irritating moments, like the ridiculous story of the Catholic social worker who vows never to see his adulterous beloved again after the immigrant he ran over survives. The only positive thing is that these simply-written novels are quick to read and flow smoothly until the end. But they’re like those catchy little songs that stick in your head—earworms—easy to listen to but utterly terrible. Or like American movies, the worst and most irritating ones that you find yourself watching until the end because they have fast editing and you want to see how it ends.

In fact, I said that it cannot be compared to the riot girls and I wanted to emphasize that when we talk about influence, this influence hasn't really produced much and has betrayed the spirit of the originals. For PJ Harvey, I mentioned in the review that musically they have nothing in common; as for attitude, I am referring to the low fi and scrappy debut, Rid of Me.

thank you all.
errata corrige: the guy's name is not jason cox but bradford cox. evidently, i had jason pierce in mind, who is quite related. if you like it, i recommend cox's blog which is excellent; he is very generous and always shares a lot of things to download: DEERHUNTER / ATLAS SOUND / LOTUS PLAZA / GHETTO CROSS by bradford cox and cole alexander

not among the best of their discography but pleasant. They save themselves with class and skill. Much better than the vast majority of releases in recent years.
