The first record I bought from Ivan upon its release was "Ballata per 4 stagioni," and I must admit that I abandoned the artist after "Viaggi e Intemperie." I don't know, it seemed to me that he was becoming too indulgent towards melody tout court and less and less rock, even though he still scratched the strings on every album. He himself called himself a guitarist who had borrowed from singer-songwriter music... But then I started listening to him again just when "Ivangarage" came out, which I bought on trust; the title inspired me, and I was right. As he hadn't done in years, Ivan returned to playing rock and stripping down the lyrics, little melody, lots of riffs, Beatles-like chords, and Battistiani passages (it is often remembered that Battisti, in his prime, wouldn't enter the recording studio unless Ivan had arrived....), a truly rock album in the sense of compositional essentiality, recorded "raw" and presented live with even more energy than before.

And we must also remember that Ivan, even in his more "pop" years, would unleash a ferocity in his concerts that was unknown to an audience tamed by the predominance of 80s pop back then....
I really loved this album (I bought it on cassette!), but unfortunately, it wasn't followed by others worthy of its essentiality and rawness, both in lyrics and music. Anyway, thanks, Ste, for digging it up; I now have to reconnect the cassette player to listen to it... downloading it just wouldn't be rock'n'roll, right?

Relax, my friends, relax. And read it again. Isn’t the mention “Literary Case” a bit excessive? I have read other works marked that way and quite a few seemed pitiful to me, others unsuitable for the context, and still others useless or potentially harmful to the site's “econoimia.” Frankly, this does not seem to belong to any of the three cases mentioned above (nice “mentioned above,” huh?).

Not so great, three stars out of respect for Napalm... four for the review because DeMa clearly put a lot of passion into it, and it shows... Thank you, DeMa.

Africa, America, the night, the soul.

Almost bare, effective and simple, well presented, what’s needed, no linguistic or technical frills. Thank you, Taka!

In my opinion, @[Almotasim], the supercazzola does a little bit... Almo, if you’re a man, you admit it...

Nothing to say, five out of five. Thank you, Almo!

Kenny for life, I’m on board too, even though I’ve kind of lost track of him; it makes me want to dig up "Trouble is..." Great review, Conte, nothing to complain about, not even the gallicisms with which you mock fate... Ah, I think I’ve already told you, that elegant gentleman with the flaming tail insists that, at the country crossroads, the soul/blues exchange pact should be renewed every now and then... we need to renew it...

I used to say, about the Eighties... I only just now realize the lack of stuff about the Drughi in the Deb, so I join in thanking the ever-reliable Coe for the review. I've always heard glam echoes in the Droogs as well, but they seem quite intended and obvious; it's not strange that Europe loved them more than their own homeland, right? So thank you, Jonatan, always accurate and timely, even in uncovering what’s missing!

I'm sending you the stars now, sorry!
