A little gem that will leave Pitchfork over the moon. It’s a tasty stew, but I’m not sure how nutritious it is: Ambling Alp features harmonies à la Bee Gees... terrifying, One could be a B-side of Perfect Kiss. More SynthPop than Folk Rock.

For many, jazz is background music to be enjoyed in trendy venues while dining, drinking, and conversing, with often "minor" performers tailoring their renditions. (Although back in the day, Davis and his companions performed among pushers & escorts). Black Earth, by the reviewed artists, is an interesting, curious little piece, in a way both mature and naive at the same time; however, it would never end up in the blender of a weekend at the "right" club. It pairs well with the soundtrack of Vampyros Lesbos (Sexadekic Dance Party) - sic! - also of German production.
