Since it is a "product" (creation of the offer, response marketing, etc.), I believe it is natural (absit iniuria verbis) to rely solely on personal taste/purchase impulse. Then, the experience will determine whether it is a good product for the customer or not. I don’t think the definition of masterpiece can be applied (even though it could occur in the infinitesimal calculation of probabilities) to any item intended for mass music distribution.
