Good film, supported by a constant tension, de-spectacularizes the everyday reality of war: anything can happen at any moment, and Bigelow cleverly makes it happen otherwise. The shootout in the desert is far from the usual western: nerve-wracking, even depressing, almost like a video game in slow motion and out of focus, with the sniper quenched by a juice box from the scope... the superhero hyperbole has come to an end (?). The photography is now conventional (echoing Syriana), improbable for an Oscar but certainly better than Pocahontas 2 The Revenge, meaning Avatar.

It seems to me that the inappropriate term used by the reviewer is FREE in defining the character. It’s like calling oneself anarchists if one walks in the middle of the street instead of on the sidewalk. The character in question evacuated his concerts in front of an audience that tried at all costs to be bourgeoisly astonished (and even if they were happy, I think, they must have had some issues): our man was there, ready to cash in, a skilled tamer of the conformity of transgression.
