I serve as a counterpoint to the epic narrative by recalling my (Fantozzian) "stroll" from a year ago with my kids (8 and 12 years old) to the Rifugio Biella at Croda del Becco, starting from the lake of Braies: torrential rain in the last 2 hours of the hike, a quick change of clothes at the refuge, a hearty meal, and a mad dash back, at least for the little ones: pain! Knees crushed under the weight of a quintal and three lost/changing nails. I share the joy of arriving at the lake, a big mug of beer in hand, and off for a hot bath! 1 for my adventure, 5 for that of Il Freddo (chapeau).

It's ridiculous to label Faulkner as a nihilist; he is an author like few others, capable of investigating "evil" with the detachment of an entomologist. And it has nothing to do with CSI, madamina Fabia.
