I didn't appreciate the movie, boo... too personal the depiction of certain situations. But my real problem was not being able to avoid comparing it to the book! Levi writes clearly, as a chemist, paradoxically leaving little room for emotions (which, at best, reach us through other means); the film, on the other hand, often gives way...

I'll be honest, the intro of this review kind of "irritated" me, but I still can't quite pinpoint exactly why... Anyway, I never liked the film (it's the usual nauseating American pabulum); and you could have at least mentioned that Hoffman’s character was inspired by Kim Peek, one of the most emblematic cases of autism known (https://www.debaser.it/main/Video.aspx?y=k2T45r5G3kA). This man is, alas, recently deceased, taking with him the mystery of one of the most prodigious minds ever to appear on earth. Less than a month ago, I watched a documentary about him (and other "famous" autistic individuals, Autismo e arte: Stephen Wiltshire - ItaliaNotizie on a satellite channel, but I don't remember where...
