It bothers me to give low scores, therefore I reason: the hated track by track is the most evident negative trait of a review that, alas, is empty of content. You might have needed to better frame the historical period and the evolution of the band during those years from post-punk to dark. It's also due to, and this is often forgotten, the abrupt stylistic shift that Simon Gallup's entry into the band provided. God bless Simon Gallup!!

I've only listened to the samples, but... they're fantastic, I'll definitely buy the original record, I know it will stay with me for a long time. As for the rest... I don't know, I'm sorry I couldn't make it in time for...

It was not a beautiful fashion, let's say it straight away. Seen through today's eyes, it even seems somewhat ugly to most. It didn’t flatter the vast majority of women. But 80s fashion had its own charm. Below we have identified the 9 key points of 80s fashion:
1) Cyclist pants (leggings). After the tights, how could we not think about their summer twins, the “cyclist”? Those horrendous, super-tight cotton-spandex pants that ended above the knee. One of those classic objectively ugly garments that would look obscene even on Gisele and Heidi, let alone on a normal girl.
2) Second-skin high-waisted pants... perhaps fastened at the ankle with a useless zipper. Naturally, long (or rather, short) above the ankle. Basically, jeans or pants that take the concept of tights/leggings and make a slim person look even slimmer and a fuller one like a whale.
3) Shoulder pads. Anyone who even spent their childhood in the 80s cannot forget those horrible shoulder pads that were worn everywhere, even under a jersey t-shirt, and were sometimes pinned on with two pearl-headed safety pins in a “crazy aunt” style.
4) The cuff. The cuff on jeans was very different from the cuff on smart trousers with a tailored cut that came back into fashion in the 90s, as it had the praiseworthy purpose of showcasing the underlying socks, which were strictly argyle.
5) The neoblouson with batwing sleeves. For this garment that resembles a shapeless sack with a hole for the head, and for color choices in highlighter styles like electric blue, canary yellow, fuchsia, and pea green, we can only pray it stops: store windows are already overcrowded with them.
6) Fluorescent makeup. The makeup mirrored the anti-fog colors of the outfits, namely lilac, shocking pink, emerald green, bright blue. The same colors are also found in makeup and nail polishes, but also in the characteristic and enormous clip-on earrings.
7) Lion-like teased hair. A telling example of the hairstyles that awaited us is Melanie Griffith in “Working Girl”; or platinum blond with dark roots, paired with black brows like the early Madonna.
8) Hair barrettes. Alongside the aforementioned flashy earrings, there is fear that the characteristic padded bow hair clip will make a comeback, highlighting that love for “puffiness” found in hairstyles.
9) Clutch bags. In the years when Mr. Rossi would pick up his wife with the Arna to go to dinner at some trendy restaurant, she would emerge with the inevitable flat, rectangular handbag in hand. The clutch is now back in style at the best stores, after a long reign of micro-handbags with stiff handles that resemble grandma's (unbeatable, let’s be honest).

"I like radical choices/ the conscious death that Socrates imposed upon himself/ and the mysterious and unique disappearance of Majorana/ the cynical and intriguing life of Landolfi/ opposite yet close to a Burmese monk/ or the celestial misanthropy in Benedetti Michelangeli."

In my opinion, the (mis)fortunes of the Gothic novel in Italy are tied not only to the usual problem of translations but also to cultural factors... to a Classicism that, whether we like it or not, is truly part of our cultural DNA. A striking example is the story of Foscolo himself, a troubled and unresolved figure torn between adherence to models from across the Alps and his visceral love for Greek literature. In short, to put it simply...
