Porcupine Tree Live @ Pistoia Blues - 14.07.10

Damn it, I'm gnawing on the wood of the desk out of nerves!!! I should have been there that night, and I confess I would have done it more for Anathema than for Porcupine Tree; instead, I found myself in Barcelona amidst the chaos of the celebrations for Spain's victory in the World Cup, and honestly... I couldn't have cared less!! Anathema always slips away from me, it’s been a few years now... what bad luck! Anyway, I find it scandalous that they didn’t play something like Sleepless (just to name one), and as for the emotionality in a live setting, I’m not surprised they might be a bit cold to the point of seeming like professionals... it’s known that they’ve never been exactly stage showmen; in fact, just seeing them smile is probably the maximum! Lastly, I’ve recently reevaluated A Fine Day To Exit after so many years of having ignored it. But I also love A Natural Disaster, and of course We’re Here... The fact is every album by the Cavanaghs is exciting in its own right, different from the previous ones yet recognizable from the first notes. There’s the regret of not seeing Duncan on bass, that’s true! Sorry if I’ve gone on for too long, I wish you a gloomy evening...

Look, I agree with everything you've written and unfortunately I understand you :( but you really didn't say much about the album. If I hadn't listened to it, and pretending that I have no idea about the kind of work I'm dealing with, I wouldn't know how it sounds, what arrangements are there, how many tracks there are, the duration, in short... silly details like these that, alas, are necessary!

this film, along with the various Rockies, Back to the Future, and white Nikes, Giochi senza frontiere, Drive In, and Bim Bum Bam...not to mention Cicciolina's video with the horse, are straight into the history of the Eighties! What nostalgia....
