Very good. They would now give blowjobs to passersby just to promote their records. Fuck and money are their creed.

Tom Cullinan. Need anything else (2)? The dawn of Quickspace.
The Telescopes Taste
Voto:
The mere intro of "Perfect Needle" is enough to make this work untouchable. I don't know why, but the Telescopes you relegated your review to don't refer back to my writing on the excellent "Trade Mark of Quality" and the review of "Third" found/hidden in the database. Great recovery, though, even if there's really little shoegaze here. However, you strike gold when you mention Loop, Stooges, and Spacemen 3.
Billy Joel Just The Way You Are

It's always right to remember "The Stranger" and its fruits, even if it's brought up too randomly when talking about Joel, overshadowing other equally valid and worthy works to be remembered, such as "Turnstiles," the flop prelude to "The Stranger."

I know them because of a split with the Castaway Stones, where they appear with this evocative, wonderful reinterpretation of "Sky Men" I was also aware of this album, but I don't recall ever having owned and/or listened to it (I suspect I simply noticed it didn't live up to expectations - but it's also worth mentioning that this cover was a collaboration with the Mount Vernon Arts Lab, so perhaps the credit for its success wasn't entirely theirs).
Stevie Wonder The Very Best Of
Voto:
The downside of these compilations is more tangible with artists who have had a commercial breakthrough (the discussion changes if this breakthrough occurs before their debut). The utopian collection of Ima would be rated five, but the reality is the "I Just Called to Say I Love You" flaunted on the cover. There are artists suited for compilations, but Stevie Wonder is not one of them.
Mariah Carey Music Box
Voto:
The problem is that from here she began to truly and increasingly savor the taste of so much, so much money and worldwide fame, and that all too perfect balance was lost. By the subsequent "Daydream," the decline began, plummeting, with only sporadic flukes that were now too contrived and few in number to save her from the abyss. Mariah Carey, 1990-1995 R.I.P.

The album that consecrates her to the world as the pop(miss) of the nineties. Forget? Ask none other than Stevie Wonder or Franklin if it should be forgotten. Rather, someone should remember that there is not just one musical genre and that Carey, who at the time composed, wrote, and produced her songs (I don’t know if she still does, nor do I care), with this album legitimizes a pop-soul that balances the inspiration of her first two albums, her state of grace from those early years, abandoning sounds still too tied to the previous decade in favor of fresher and catchier production and arrangements. Here you go: written and produced in collaboration with Carole King. But you probably don’t even know who Carole King is. We’re not talking about Rihanna or Madonna here.
