@LUKAPIZ: of course you're free to appreciate (you like everyone) whatever you want; tastes are tastes after all.
@COLORAS: should I explain why the power metal is SHIT FOR ME (you're right, it's always better to specify; I try to express my tastes and not an absolute truth)? Then: -repetitive (a bunch of groups all the same) - flashy and immature (the song structure: intro, verse, bridge, chorus, melodic verse, etc... has really bored me).
@PIXIES: exactly, the boom in '94 and from there until nu metal, the mainstream is punk.
Also, A) it sold well in its niche; during the Nightfall tour, I saw Blind Guardian at the Rainbow, if you're from Milan, you know what it was like; otherwise, just picture a record pub for 300/400 (maybe even less) people... (sardined). Last year, Nightwish played at Palalido, definitely a bigger place; I imagine this is possible thanks to the record sales data. So, power metal bands sell more now that they're being played in rotation on MTV (back in the '90s, a certain band, Manowar, didn't perform a concert without cursing MTV in front of their fans for not playing decent music).
B) Yes, let's say nu metal definitely had more success with bands like Limp Bizkit and SOAD... or should we say that in 2003, SOAD and Helloween were equally featured on the radio and in music media? If you tell me they were equally represented, then we can wrap it up here.
C) It could be; otherwise, I wouldn't explain phenomena like Lacuna Coil going around as headliners... and it's not just an economic problem but also a visibility issue.
D) Amen can be listened to by whoever wants to; from my point of view, if you usually listen to nu and then switch to Amen, you gain something. Don't you think? It's always about tastes...
Then, Amen travel through heavily trafficked roads... did you happen to read the word originality in the review? I'm saying they do punk mixed with metal; it doesn't seem like I said they invent something new.
@LUX: Results May Vary (2003) / Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavored Water (2000) / Three Dollar Bill Yall$ (1997)... Sorry, but what period is the review talking about? Your comment above supports my thesis... And to wrap it up, I still prefer We Have Come For Your Parents over Three Dollar Bill Yall$.
