Sixth Comm The Fruits of Yggdrasil

"1987 a key year for apocalyptic folk"... congratulations to those who noticed it.
Jean-Luc Ponty Enigmatic Ocean

Ponty is interesting. I would be curious to know what kind of guitar Holdsworth is playing here: his hyper-technological electric, acoustic...? It must be a beautiful collection of refined virtuosity.

"Requiem for a Nokia"? Interesting: what is the final farewell to your phone?
Bob Dylan Together Through Life

Enough! What a hassle! How many times do people feel like reviewing this album???????
Donald Fagen Kamakiriad
Voto:
I always get excited when he says "pretty tough...but the wind is rough...on the dunes!"...beautiful, legendary. Did you know that Steely Dan are in Milan this year? How many nostalgics are willing to spend their monthly allowance/salary on this unrepeatable concert? I liked the review, but I don't agree about Morph the Cat; it's not up to par. Anyway, even if it isn't, I hope Donald Fagen is granted the gift of immortality...

I have a question for the reviewer: when they say "it's not about out-of-tuneness but rather timbral deficiency," what do they actually mean other than filling a void with some phonetic symbols?
John Greaves, Peter Blegvad, Lisa Herman Kew. Rhone.

Well done, Fusillo. But what an asshole Hodgkinson!

poor Blegvad, why make him look bad? Anyway, I challenge you to go around playing Living in the heart of a beast with your emo-core band. Jokes aside, I like to keep Kew.Rhone on my iPod when I go cycling. I wonder what the ideological issues are between Henry Cow and Peter Blegvad. Come on, tell us, fusillo. As far as I know, Robert Wyatt was also pretty much aligned back when he collaborated with Henry Cow...I think he still is anyway.

I would say it's trendy to snub it. The "search for sounds" of the seventies feels like a worn-out script from a certain snobbish subculture that surely distances us from the emotion of the immediacy that only beautiful music can provide. This album is very carefully crafted in its sounds and gives me a sense of detachment, a capability to see things from afar like only a few artists can. Even though it's an album from 2008, that doesn’t mean it can’t be a masterpiece. Or should we still resort to the usual tired labels?
French, Frith, Kaiser, Thompson Invisible Means
Voto:
an interesting pilgrimage in avant-garde lands. Frith is a musician I like, more original than other, more well-known colleagues of his (see Marc Ribot, who is also cool). I don’t know what to say: I'm afraid that the absolute beauty of certain masterpieces by Henry Cow from the seventies (I only mention In Praise of Learning and Desperate Straights) has flown away and that what remains is interesting but not crucial. I remember another "thing" by Frith, Speechless, moderately listenable then nothing more. But since I'm stubborn, if Macaco has other similar reviews, I'm ready to seek out more music. Well done.
