A great movie, I've always liked it. Coppola's one has nothing to do with it, of course. It's quite kitsch. Except for Love Song for a Vampire by Annie Lennox, which is a masterpiece.

Nice review and good insights. For me, however, the notion that young = cheerful fool, adult = sad and therefore aware is somewhat of a forced dichotomy. I am a supporter of a harmonious and Eastern view of the world. After all, who cares, you might say. And that's fair enough.
