The meaning of the word shoegaze had me cracking up for a long time. These guitarists so caught up in guitar effects that they can't lift their eyes from the ground…. I don't know much, though: Sonic Youth are my biggest experience with stuff like this. Is there anything you'd recommend in shoegaze that isn't just depressing stuff?

It's impressive to listen to them now. Sunny Afternoon feels like it just came out in 2009. I suspect that Oasis and the old Blur, but also to some extent the Gorillaz, drew more from these guys.

@VORTEX: I would also add "Dear Diary" to the list of top-tier films. It's interesting that the less they explicitly talk about politics, the more compelling the films become, very human and partially political as well.

I really like this album. However, the 5-star album, in my opinion, is "Magneti," which is truly a masterpiece. I really appreciate the fact that he has somewhat freed himself from a style exclusively tied to "quality Italian rock." Don’t get me wrong, bands like Denovo are welcome, but being able to appreciate a singer-songwriter who expresses himself freely with so many styles and nuances (including those wonderfully South American ones) like Venuti does is a true pleasure. "Prima tu mi costruisci una statua d'oro poi mi mandi al rogo per te pure il male è un bene andato a male".... It has always moved me.
