@matteo and @jarko. Collins is very versatile. Often Gabriel has locked himself in his world and has given less of himself to music. It’s a deliberate choice, and this makes Gabriel a great artist, but let’s not forget that to make those albums, Peter surrounded himself with super-professionals from the start (Tony Levin, Manu Katché, Robert Fripp, and let’s not forget Collins himself during the Genesis period). Perhaps Gabriel's albums wouldn’t be as beautiful without his skilled and inspired musicians. I consider Gabriel a sort of grand master capable of putting into music his bizarre and romantic states of mind along with many musicians from diverse backgrounds. He is unique. Collins, on the other hand, is a pure professional with a lot of experience behind him, with a very innovative drum sound (see all the ‘80s collaborations, even with multi-instrumentalists like Mike Oldfield) and an exquisite voice (it’s no coincidence that Disney approached him for soundtracks... they don’t do that with just anyone).

I wouldn't say I consider it foolish, especially since you've contextualized the musical aspect very well and given a lot of advice that I will listen to. I'm intrigued by the discussion about black folk being a bit mystical. Do you mean something that leans towards apocalyptic folk like Current 93 or something more metal?

There are always debates about these inimitable voices that are those of Gabriel and Collins, and it's a pleasure that they are still discussed even after so many years. This means that, for better or for worse, both have always made an impact. My opinion is that there is nothing comparable between the two; Collins as a solo artist has never collaborated subsequently with Gabriel as a solo artist, nor vice versa. There are two distinct musical paths that were already noticeable back in the early Genesis days. Artistic paths that can't be compared and operate on different levels. Both are remarkable. My taste leans more towards personal history for Gabriel, but it's not a matter of "vocal timbre," since the more versatile singer of the two is and always will be Phil Collins, who has also established himself as an interpreter. On the other hand, Gabriel still has a long way to go as a cover vocalist (see latest album).

right comment that brings everything back to my total ignorance of the genre. 5 stars to your comment. In fact, I was talking about the period I know. I thought that the characteristics of the genre were precisely the "special effects" on stage and the poorly recorded drums. But if it has evolved over the years, what is a typical characteristic of Black, in your opinion, that has remained over time? Thank you.

complex group to review. Good review work then. I can’t fully appreciate them, and probably the problem is the singer. Do you really find Hogarth extraordinary? To me, he seems very "average" and excessively melodic, trapped in his era. An era that is now over.

the voice is pleasant...however, it seems to me that the sounds (guitar in particular) are rather amateurish. I'm sorry they opted to arrange the songs this way...maybe it's a matter of money, but overall it seems a bit bland.

a new proposal. Blow the dust off it.

Beautiful proposal. I like these Norwegians. The "Battiti" program on Radio 3 often features some Nordic jazz musician alternating with ambient drone music late at night. It's worth it. Also, the program.

I'll clarify better. I haven't yet heard a black metal band that seems eager to make music. Then again, tastes are tastes; the songs are always rather pretentious, and the technique and quality of the recordings are quite poor. Usually, they might impress more on stage when they act rebellious. However, if you tell me which album is musically listenable and of decent quality, I might change my mind.

So what? The review doesn't tell me anything about the album...
