Good review and a group that tried to erase their tracks, but success seems to have arrived anyway... who knows why. They are very good and "cool," I've spotted them on the shelves of "indie" altars in all the Virgin Stores I've seen. The term heavy pop feels a bit tight... all definitions feel a bit tight for me... not to mention the "madchester" label which I have a fierce disdain for. I recall regarding labels when they suggested the "canterbury scene" to an embarrassed Robert Wyatt. In response, Robert said that there was no "canterbury scene" and that the only thing common to the whole "scene" was that everyone would have gladly run away from Canterbury.

I think this review is a bit of a joke. Maybe the person writing it has a different sensitivity and taste; they certainly appreciate prog rock (I do too). But the sentences written above do not describe the album. In fact, they somewhat dismantle themselves: to say that the songs are based on a single chord... perhaps you meant a key or a repetitive chord progression, and thankfully it is so, because with these lyrics and the poetry that Springsteen is capable of writing, if he were to imprison them within boring, complex orchestrations, nothing would be understood about his origins, the world he comes from. In any case, let the reviewer prove me wrong with an original song of theirs that comes even close to the intensity of something like "factory." Now, for your benefit, a little translation: "Tutti hanno un segreto, Sonny Qualcosa che proprio non riescono a guardare dritto in faccia Alcune persone cercano per tutta la loro vuota vita di afferrarlo Se lo portano addosso in ogni passo che muovono Finché un giorno non se lo strappano via da dosso Se lo strappano via da dosso o lasciano che li schiacci a terra Dove nessuno pone mai domande O ti guarda troppo a lungo negli occhi Nell'oscurità alla periferia della città."
Cuong Vu It's Mostly Residual

Great respect for Cuong Vu; I hope he's still an integral part of the Pat Metheny Group, but I doubt it since he has been frequently changing the wind instruments lately. I find him brilliant, and this album intrigues me. Bill Frisell is a bit difficult for me to digest, but genius is genius, no doubt about it. The first part of the review is a bit obscure, but I understand what you mean, and I don't quite agree. Skill and technique bore me when they become a flag. However, that's not the case here, especially since I've always found Cuong Vu to be more experimental than technical.

Very interesting. These themes seem light years away from the current music scene. I’m not at all a fan of nationalism, but I believe that at least this Ireland and its wonderfully isolating folk draw from the poetry and culture of its past. It's worth knowing at the very least.

Yesterday I was in Modena at the concert, and I was very positively surprised. I believe that if they had continued in the vein of Sonic Youth, they would now be just another band. The electronic inserts and the dreamy aspect of the new tracks are very good. The discussion about this album and what you say about chill out doesn't convince me because this album and their music have a synth direction that might not appeal to you, given your apparent attachment to certain 90s sounds. However, forgive me, you can't really call it chill out... the Montecarlo nights compilations are chill out...

this is passion... it reminds me of when in Forli this winter in a small but glorious venue I enjoyed Allan Holdsworth, practically the master of contemporary guitar. Let’s not let our true musical idols feel alone...

Sorry, instead of "folk" I meant to write "brothers," but my pod completed the word its own way.
