Today, among the preferred names, there are several Italian indie groups inexplicably tied to meteorology: La Tempesta, La Quiete, Perturbazione, Il Temporale. Can you tell me why? It truly remains a mystery...
Once upon a time (the '90s), names of groups that ended with -A were in vogue: probably following the trail of NirvanA and MetallicA. LitfibA, VerdenA, NegritA, DeasonikA are a few examples, but I’m sure many others come to mind.
In any case, the real must of Italian indie rock consists of all those bands that associate a woman's name (probably to appeal to high on groupies) with a rarefied and dreamy atmosphere: Marlene Kuntz, Marta sui Tubi, la Fame di Camilla, 4 fiori per Zoe, Penelope sulla Luna, Valentina Dorme... we could even invent some: "Coiti di Marilù" or "Orietta è Sedentaria."
Anyway, in my opinion, these attempts in Italian are better than those who stubbornly insist on using English for everything: titles, lyrics, graphics, and for ghostly "influences," perhaps playing with a bassist from Udine who speaks only Friulian... actually, let me correct that, he’s "Udine based."

Well done, Bluvertigo. Subsonica continued down that path, but let's not forget the experiment of DiscoLabirinto, where the two bands worked together. Bluvertigo were an absolute novelty and even today (despite being out of fashion), they represent some of the most original work done in the Italian language during those years, regardless of all the other musical genres that were trending, like "rock targato Italia," which pales in comparison. Anyway, you made me feel old with this review; I believe many remember them as artists from not yesterday but the day before yesterday...

"Magick" in the sense of Aleister Crowley?

Very good this proposal. I am particularly interested in it at this time.

Actually, I don't quite agree: the new Italian music proposals are very few. Excluding the "mainstream," I don't see anything new in Italy. The indie scene is suspiciously dominated by people from Giorgio Canali, independent labels practically don't exist commercially, and those with demos of truly original stuff are often too afraid to dive into this market. Self-production is really tough, and apart from Tuscany (which I admire from an indie perspective), no one talks about new things: we are stuck with Luci della Centrale elettrica. I hope someone is able to prove me wrong on these pages. In any case, credit where credit is due for the proposal with some reservations: labeling a post-rock group outside of Italy where everything and the opposite of everything has already been said and done in post-rock is quite courageous. Also, the proposal is interesting although "Mary in June" makes me think of "Death in June"; I hope they are equally original!

Well done everyone, including the reviewer. I just can't handle the nostalgia trips where you still hear stuff that sounds like "black old sun." I'll leave it to you to carry on the banner of 90s purism ;)

This is indeed a forward-thinking proposal. Very interesting, especially the emotional factor over the intellectual one.
