I see genius even just in the chord changes of "Get Lucky." Not to mention the overall arrangements on the album, the nostalgic idea of including Moroder. I view the content of the album differently than you do. If I understood correctly, you held out hope until the end for another non-commercial experimental album. But that was not the intent of the two this time. In fact, from a purely musical standpoint, this album is a 5-star masterpiece and it's also danceable. For me, only a few have managed to achieve that in recent years.

Mike Ratledge makes everything too pseudo jazz rock, but the true essence of the early Soft Machine has much more to do with crazy psychedelia. I could be wrong, sure, but I'm not wrong at all; I'm right.
