Pieter Nooten and Michael Brook Sleeps with the fishes

The same critical rigor, dear Bot, without hard feelings, which you too should have, considering that Lanois has absolutely nothing to do with this album.

Unlike their first albums, I started to like Clan of Xymox later on, especially during and after their ventures into ambient electronica—a matter of personal taste, of course. But they would never have become new wave idols, certainly, and in fact today they sound closer to the best of David Sylvian.

I definitely agree with Farina. It seems to me a balanced analysis of an album that is well-made but not as exciting as others.
Francesco De Gregori La valigia dell'attore

An essential record for some reason in the homes of 90s musicians. Who knows why. I've always really liked the title track, but not much more than that. On the other hand, for me it's the lesser-known albums (like la Pecora) that still drive me crazy and that shaped my musical upbringing. Songs like Bene, for example, which have little to do with the country rock arrangements that De Gregori later churned out, live and not live, after the 90s. I liked the little acoustic guitar and the uncertain voice. Or, on the opposite end, the grandeur of albums considered "minor" like Canzoni d'Amore.

Beautiful Synth Retro atmospheres, a somewhat underrated album and a really great review

That said, the artistic superiority of an album like The Works over this A Kind Of Magic is undeniable, although, unlike you, I actually find it enjoyable precisely because it is connected to the video and the film. However, we are talking about a work that was important in giving a hard rock touch (thanks above all to Brian May), which would later sow extremely important seeds in The Miracle and would definitively consecrate what is one of the most beautiful records in their body of work and a pinnacle of English music, capable of ushering in the '90s and, with luminous decadence, closing all the previous chapters—namely, Innuendo.

Princes of the universe, not Princess of the universe. It changes everything. In any case, some tracks like don't lose your head and pain is so close to pleasure would have been great pop ideas if they had been developed a bit more, as they actually did in later years when they recorded some real gems like I'm going slightly mad.

There’s a review on ondarock that, due to personal tastes, claimed that when this album was released it was by no means a milestone. The reason? They found Wilson disagreeable. That review (actually a very poor track-by-track) in its inconclusive pomposity, is still out there, making people cry out for justice. But screw it.

Very beautiful album. Evocative and poignant review

Although I proudly count myself among the weak minds mentioned who choose not to be TRVE, I applaud the magnificence of the review and the Viking metal reviewed here. When something is worthy, it transcends labels, as always. And then when I read 'derivative,' the nerdy preadolescent riccardone in me twitches with joy and egoic orgasms.
