Walter Veltroni La sfida interrotta: le idee di Enrico Berlinguer

I read your last clear analysis of the political condition of the homus italicus of our days with guilty delay. In any case, and in particular, beyond the difficult comparison between Berlinguer and Walter Veltroni, to whom one must attribute a personality comparable to that of Topo Gigio and a charisma not too dissimilar from that of Roberto Donadoni, it seems to me that you have done well to reconstruct once again the decaying trajectory of the Italian left, which actually began years and years before the fall of the Berlin Wall. Today we can and must regret Berlinguer, without a doubt, since we are in complete and utter turmoil, but history has taught us that nothing good has ever come from the approach to social democracy. It hasn’t happened elsewhere, and it hasn’t happened in Italy. Hello De Lorenzo, I thank you for the kind words you have shared about me, and I hug you, hoping to read, sooner or later, your reviews and your always balanced analyses of our increasingly unbalanced society, which is on the brink of collapse. Amen.

Reading comments like number four is like drowning in a sea of vomit.
Edward Hopper Nighthawks

Of Hopper, I only know what circulated in the States riding his motorcycle in the company of Captain Fond-America. This other one, however, seems even more interesting. I will look into it. The review, on the other hand, goes straight into the favorites and, if possible and necessary, consecrates you, dearest Enbar, among the greatest in the history of DeBaser.

Along with the other great "titles" you mentioned, one of the best things about the nineties.

An emotionally engaging classic, just like the Milan anthem knows how to be. Coincidentally, but only coincidentally, the deus ex machina is the same. You can tell it has good taste...

I'm not sure about the quality of this text. Walter Veltroni, on the day after the fall of the Berlin Wall and already the head of L'Unità and one of the key intellectual figures of the Italian center-left, see also his very interesting books on the United States of America, decided to adopt this very manual as the reference text for the new Italian center-left, rather than Das Kapital. How things went then, we all know... But, of course, don’t worry, there's never a limit to the worst.

Dear Salafumatori, in the end, I even went and bought it. I played it for a bit, siding with the terrestrial American militias of NASA. At first, recalling my great skills as an orc troop manager back in Warcraft II, I did pretty well, but when they started with the atomic bombs, I surrendered. I began to dream of aliens at night, and it was almost like dreaming about my ex giving it away to everybody. Let me correct that: my ex is actually giving it away to everyone. But it's horrible nonetheless. The game is good anyway.

I am particularly happy to read the review of this magnificent masterpiece, which I had the opportunity to see only years ago, when Raitre still had the decency to broadcast truly interesting productions. Unfortunately, I have never watched the sequel, but this work, which is essentially a reconstruction of the parable of the nation, which can be referred to as "European" par excellence, is extraordinary from every point of view: ultimately, I lost many hours of sleep over it, but it was worth it. It's also curious that I come to read about this page these days when there has been so much debate about the eleven plus "oriundi" (children of immigrants and naturalized) players of the German national team in the last World Cup. Today's Germany is a country that is very different from what Germany could have been before the nineties and, even more, light years away from that of the Third Reich. Since then, only sixty or seventy years have passed, but they have made quite a lot of progress: inevitably, this thought also goes to this production, a sort of cinematic version of "One Hundred Years of Solitude," but Bavarian-style. Beautiful.
Clint Eastwood Il Texano Dagli Occhi Di Ghiaccio

A great film and a great performance by Clint Eastwood. It all makes sense, as pinkholler partially suggests in comment number 8, in the comparison to William Munny from Unforgiven - which remains, however, an unattainable masterpiece and probably unmatchable among the films directed by Clint... also thanks to the presence of a Gene Hackman who is more than ever the violent arm of the law. Maybe the Texan with ice-blue eyes spits more, but the merciless one is more ruthless. Additionally, it’s interesting to draw a parallel between this film and the recent Gran Torino, where Clint's Walt Kowalski is also searching for redemption, for "peace." In both cases, however, the attainment of this inner peace is necessarily stained with blood, because life is too dirty and turbulent for the two characters to leave behind. It’s curious to consider how the journeys of the two characters ultimately have different outcomes. But in fact, the years pass for everyone, and when you’re nearly eighty, it’s hard to take down six or seven people at once… And well, there’s a lot more to it. All the other characters are great: the Indian Chief dangeorge, the grandma of the West, and Sandra Locke... Five stars are inevitable.
