Great review, congratulations, great album even though I agree with the first two comments. It's a shame about our band’s compositional sterility; they could have gifted us with much more wonderful gems if it weren't for the laziness combined with Sholz's obsessive approach to composition and sound. Nothing to say about Delp's voice!!!!

absolutely agree with DRAGONBEAST75........come on Punisher, in friendship,..... will you listen to it again??

Do you find the arrangement of "heroes" (just to mention the first one) a bit "unoriginal"??? Pray tell, how would you have done it??.."Peter is Peter" can surely be a silly remark, directly proportional to your rudeness.

Dearest Punisher, I disagree, and I'll make my case in a few lines, warning that I won't descend into pointless arguments... "It is well-known: people buy the name, not what they are going to listen to."... wrong, people buy the name and what they are going to listen to, that is, pieces of absolute respect sung by an equally respectful voice, arranged in a very original and classy way.... if you know even a little about our history, you could certainly expect something that isn't trivial. Great Peter, once again you have delighted us, and I don't believe that offering these milestones in these versions is a sign of lack of inspiration... already in '86 I announced a covers album, I waited 14 years and I will wait another 4/5 years for his next work, and it will be yet another surprise!!... trust me, listen to it again!! Peter is Peter!!!

.....and what do you think Uncle Paul would have done after leaving the Jam, for over 10 years before recording Stanley Road?? Never heard of the Style Council??...to me, he's great, actually one of the greatest, and if you want some advice, start right from the Jam and continue from there, you'll enjoy it and understand a lot more than starting from this work!!!!....and maybe you'll tell the Gallagher brothers to take a hike (what’s that got to do with anything!?!?!)

I take the liberty: it's an excellent debut, there are very beautiful pieces (I agree with your comments), but I prefer the later albums.... here our friends more than ever betray their past, it's too much of a "pink" product. Great musicians in my opinion, clean musicality, beautiful melodies sometimes a bit too wordy.... some time ago I reviewed "start the fire," which I consider a decent synthesis of their abilities for anyone wanting to approach the prog of RPWL. If you don't know Porcupine Tree, remedy that immediately, and as far as I'm concerned, start with the earlier albums, even though "the incident" is fantastic!!!!.... bye
