The Dark Knight's greatest merit lies in its masterful deconstruction of the superhero concept (before Nolan, only Moore with Watchmen had dared), even where good and evil are not opposites, but complementary, perhaps the same thing, and you can no longer tell where one begins and where the other ends (as you didn’t fail to point out in your review).

The question isn't exactly "does it make sense to propose thrash metal in 2012?", but rather "does it make sense, in 2012, to present music that is exactly the same as it was forty years ago, without even trying to change, innovate, or maybe even just distance itself from the usual clichés that were already old in '88?". And this applies to all genres, perhaps the dates just change. Then again, I don't know if this applies to this album.
